Role description: The Finance Manager/Client Portfolio Controller North America is accountable for financial performance, control, and cash outcomes across a defined portfolio of clients and projects within North America. This role ensures that client growth is delivered profitably, as sold, and with strong billing and working-capital discipline.

Acting as the primary finance partner to Account Executives, CST Leads, and Delivery teams, this role leads Project Controllers, Accountants, and Billers to embed financial discipline into delivery. Role accountabilities: Own financial performance across the assigned client portfolio, including revenue, margin, backlog, cash (DRO), and cost outcomes. Ensure projects are delivered in line with "As Sold" commercial assumptions, escalating risks and deviations early.

Monitor and explain portfolio-level variances versus plan and forecast. Partner with Account Executives and CST Leads to support profitable client growth and portfolio expansion. Provide financial insight into client-level growth opportunities, service mix decisions, and pricing strategy.

Support bids, renewals, and extensions by ensuring financial viability, margin protection, and clear commercial terms. Partner with Account Executives and CST Leads to support profitable client growth and portfolio expansion. Provide financial insight into client-level growth opportunities, service mix decisions, and pricing strategy.

Support bids, renewals, and extensions by ensuring financial viability, margin protection, and clear commercial terms. Lead and develop Project Controllers, Accountants, and Billers supporting the client portfolio. Set clear expectations for forecast quality, billing timeliness, and project financial hygiene.

Ensure consistent ways of working and adherence to Finance standards across the team. Act as the escalation point for client-level financial risks, disputes, and delivery issues. Partner with Commercial Operations and Sector Finance on contractual risk, recovery actions, and project interventions.

Ensure compliance with Finance policies, controls, and accounting requirements (with IFRS ownership retained by Accounting). Qualifications & Experience: Extensive leadership experience in finance within the architecture, engineering, construction or related capital-intensive industries in North America, with clear accountability for financial performance and analysis at portfolio or business-unit level. Strong commercial and financial acumen, including understanding of pricing, cost of sales, client NOI and margin, and using these to support client portfolio growth and expansion.

Significant experience in managing client portfolio financial performance, reporting and analysis, including the day-to-day financial governance of client projects. Demonstrated experience providing oversight of Major projects performance, Billing discipline, WIP management, and DRO escalation for assigned clients. Strong understanding of financial control frameworks, internal controls and compliance, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in line with accounting standards and company policies.

Ability to clearly communicate the outputs of financial modelling and analysis to senior stakeholders, to inform Industry strategy and financial planning. Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams, setting clear expectations, building succession and fostering a high-performance, client-focused culture. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with the senior leadership team to achieve business outcomes.
