Job description

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Application Development Manager, to join our Client Tax team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA, Lake Mary, FL or Jersey City, NJ.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Technical Leadership and Strategy
    • Partner with internal business groups to deliver high-quality application development services, technical guidance, and production support.
    • Provide architecture direction, design-pattern guidance, and pragmatic technology strategy grounded in hands-on engineering experience.
    • Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns that support long-term agility, reuse, and maintainability.
  • Engineering Delivery and Execution
    • Design, build, and maintain scalable, testable full-stack applications using modern frameworks and platforms, including React, Java, Oracle, Kafka, and Snowflake.
    • Lead technical discovery, prototyping, and rapid experimentation to validate new ideas and accelerate practical solutions.
    • Participate actively in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging to resolve complex technical issues quickly and effectively.
  • AI, Innovation, and Product Reuse
    • Lead with AI by architecting and implementing AI-powered capabilities using LLMs, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
    • Promote reuse of existing products, platforms, and functionality to improve efficiency, consistency, and speed to market.
    • Educate business leaders on IT strategies and advocate for innovative, creative technology solutions that address business priorities.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration
    • Lead and mentor engineers by promoting best practices, code quality, continuous learning, and an ownership mindset.
    • Collaborate across product, operations, engineering, and security teams to deliver practical, scalable, and compliant solutions.
    • Stay current with emerging technologies, use learning tools to meet development goals, and maintain compliance with mandatory training and policy awareness.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following: 

  • Advanced degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 12 + years of experience in systems analysis and program development with related supervisory, management and administrative experience required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and the design of RESTful and streamingbased APIs.
  • Handson experience delivering cloudnative solutions, including microservices, containerization, and modern deployment patterns.
  • Working knowledge of NoSQL and distributed data stores, selected and applied appropriately at scale.
  • Experience leveraging AIenabled capabilities, including GenAI or MLdriven services, to enhance developer productivity, system intelligence, or customer outcomes, with a pragmatic understanding of responsible use, scalability, and integration into enterprise platforms.
