Job description

This position serves as the primary point of contact for an assigned book of business, ensuring that client needs are met and our partnership with our clients remains strong. They support an Account Executive to drive group level strategies forward and aligning internal resources to our groups. Collaborates closely with clients to understand their unique needs, challenges, and objectives, offering tailored solutions to meet their requirements.

They are accountable to working with internal teams to drive business growth, optimize operational efficiency, and deliver exceptional service to our clients. This position serves as the day-to-day point of contact for inquiries, escalations, and issue resolution.

Position Requirements:

Education, Licensure, and Experience:

  • Three+ years of insurance experience (health, dental, P & C, etc.).
  • Four-year degree in business or health administration preferred.
  • Two+ years’ experience preparing reports and presentations, summarizing key metrics, achievements, challenges, and recommended strategies for improvement.
  • Strong proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to learn and become proficient in other computer programs.
  • Active Colorado Producer License is required, or ability to obtain and maintain licensure within 6 months as a condition of employment.
  • A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and Colorado-compliant vehicle insurance are required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Well-developed ability to build and maintain working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders. Follows through with a sense of urgency on client requested operational changes.
  • Well-developed understanding of employee benefits environment, insurance business, products and competitors in the market. Demonstrated ability to analyze benefit plan designs and costs.
  • Underwriting acumen, including a general understanding of fully insured and self-funded arrangements, utilization reporting and general target loss ratio.

Essential Functions

  • Researches, gathers, and collates information required to support the determination of specific strategies and plans to retain and grow business in the various target segments assigned in order to meet or exceed annual Sales and Client Services targets. Works in tandem with Account Management team in the execution of these strategies and plans.
  • Builds relationships with various delivery channels and clients as assigned.
  • Conducts relevant research and analysis to design attractive customer driven growth and retention solutions that make good business sense for DDCO for assigned book of business.
  • Works in tandem with Account Management Team in the preparation of renewal and growth specific presentations, proposals and bids.
  • Clearly and consistently communicates DDCO’s value proposition and adapts Delta Dental’s key differentiators to the needs of a specific audience.
  • Responsible to clients for coordinating enrollment needs and scheduling, including preparation of pre-enrollment, post-enrollment and renewal materials for broker and/or client.
  • Partners with Account Executives in all aspects of client management, including renewal, triage, and resolution of account issues and plan changes, reporting, and education.
  • Understand and works in tandem with the Account Executives to maintain database information on each assigned account. Works with the Account Executives to collect and record information regarding rate and benefit history, contribution strategy, and competitive information, DDCO positioning data and employer benefit and company information.
  • Works cohesively with all DDCO processes and functions to deliver seamless and high-quality service internally and externally. Contributes to continuous process improvement by generating and sharing opportunities for improvement at regular Sales and Client Services meetings.
  • Maintains awareness and consideration of, how Sales and Client Services decisions impact other DDCO processes and functions. Ensures quality deliverables to all processes and functions, with a specific emphasis on Group Administration and Analytics.
  • Proactively probes for, and monitors, competitor intelligence, market environment and industry trends as well as satisfaction with Delta Dental of Colorado and our processes. Provides feedback to Marketing per the designated process.
  • Contributes to continuous process improvement by generating and sharing opportunities for improvement at regular Sales and Client Services Meetings and adapts readily to change.
  • Proficiently utilizes DDCO systems and client relationship management tools.

General Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned book of business, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction, responsiveness, and relationship management.
  • Partner with Account Executives to support client strategy execution, renewal processes, and overall account management activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to deliver seamless service, resolve issues, and ensure alignment on client needs and business objectives.
  • Analyze client data, market trends, and competitive insights to support growth, retention, and strategic account planning.
  • Develop and deliver client-facing materials, including presentations, reporting, and renewal support documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage client lifecycle activities, including enrollment, renewals, and ongoing service delivery.
  • Monitor account performance and identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiency, and enhanced client experience.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date account information, including benefit structures, rate history, and client-specific strategies.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Become familiar with and follow DDCO-wide and department-specific policies, standard operating procedures and the DDCO Core Values; seek assistance from management when clarification or assistance is needed.
  • Assist others as requested.

Working Conditions:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Regular exposure to a computer screen.

This position is a hybrid role that requires one to two days in the office each week based upon the needs of the organization.  

Compensation: This exempt position offers an annual base salary range of $49,608 to $65,499. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible to participate in the Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), with incentive earnings opportunities ranging from 10% to 20% of base salary, based on performance. The position also includes a monthly phone and internet allowance.
