Position Summary
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Lab and assisting the Lab Manager in maintaining the laboratory, production and SQF by running analytical testing, keeping records, housekeeping, and other related duties. The Lab Technician will report directly to the Lab Manager and will act as the backup in their absence.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Maintain the retain samples, store, check, track, and dispose of once expired.
  • Pull samples when required, run all appropriate analytics, record and maintain the registers.
  • Maintain all laboratory records.
  • Laboratory housekeeping.
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory.
  • Maintain SQF, Lab, incoming and outgoing paperwork
  • Create COAs for finished products being shipped out.
  • Support production with truck inspections as needed.
  • Conduct Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly routes, checks and audits.
  • Member of the Food Safety Team will work cross functionally with other departments and members of Synova.
  • Stays current on HACCP, PCQI, SQF Code, certifications, training, and industry standards.
  • Assists with audits, regulatory visits, SOP creation and revisions, new product development blend and formula adjustments, complaint management.
  • Upholds the food safety culture, contractor safety, and GMP's.
  • Other business duties as needed
  • Acts as the backup for the Lab Manager.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in a food-related discipline such as food science, microbiology, chemistry, or other relevant discipline preferred.
  • 2-5 years' experience in food manufacturing, SQF, or equivalent QC environment preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction.
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic.
  • Capability to work through others to achieve desired results.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning skills with successful execution.
  • Cultivates positive relationships with co-workers, customers and suppliers.
