Job Description

SUMMARY

The MRP Planner’s role and primary focus is to perform production planning activities to meet production objectives and work within the materials organization to obtain and schedule materials to meet production demand.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains sales forecasts, build schedules, shipping schedules, and build plans to latest Customer Orders.
  • Coordinates and communicates delivery schedules and production priorities to Customers, Production, Engineering, and Prototype to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Ensures standard costs are properly set up and tracked in ERP system in coordination with Operational Finance / Cost Accounting functions.
  • Establishes and maintains production Stock Codes and accurate Bills of Material and Routings in ERP system.
  • Accurately capture Sales Contracts in ERP system and maintain electronic Purchase Orders.
  • Analyzes closed jobs with exceptional WIP values and WIP in inspection variances and bills appropriate control accounts.
  • Analyze ERP system exception reports and ensure setup items are entered and accurate.
  • Ensure planned build schedule execution via coordination with Purchasing, Production, and Engineering on the availability of raw materials, manpower, and capacity.
  • Analyzes inventory movements and ERP system transaction errors and report as necessary to Purchasing, Receiving, Receiving Inspection, Engineering, Production, and Shipping.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s Degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent applicable work experience.
  • Three years’ experience with an ERP systems is preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with some experience as a Production Control (MRP) Planner or Buyer preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Analytical problem solving – effective troubleshooting and problem solving using logic and reason, creativity and strategy.
  • Demonstration of thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (advanced skills in Excel desired).
  • Working knowledge of ERP Systems (Syspro highly preferred; SAP, Oracle, or equivalent acceptable)
  • Strong Communication skills – verbal and written
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, manage complexity and ambiguity, meet tight deadlines, balance multiple priorities, and handle conflict effectively

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and manufacturing instructions, procedure manuals and governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees and effectively engage with representatives of regulatory agencies.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must be able to understand and apply DSSA, Inc. documentation including SOP, MI, PS, PMP, MSP, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA, Inc.’s manufacturing processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, traverse within production areas, communicate with others, and detect or exchange information or ideas. The employee occasionally is required to perform functions which require the manual operation of both general office productivity and test equipment as well as the ability to place, reach, detect, ascend/descend, and position self to navigate within confined working spaces. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.
