The Master Production Planner is responsible for utilizing QAD and Preactor to create and maintain a constrained Master Production Plan (MPP) while managing the appropriate planning horizon for all assigned Finished Goods and Work In Progress production requirements. Coordinates and communicates the MPP with Manufacturing, Quality, Facilities and other key stakeholders. Fulfils assigned aspects of the Order Fulfilment Process. Resolves issues and communicates the potential impact to key business partners. The role of the Master Production Planner will deliver value through innovative planning that optimizes business outcomes. Partners with stakeholders to support the monthly Sales and Operations Planning process (S&OP) as required. Collaborates with Sharp External Supply to ensure an accurate and continuous supply of packaging components while maximizing utilization of available capacity and labor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following is a list of minimum responsibilities related to the Master Production Planner position. Other duties may also be assigned.

  • Develops a working knowledge of the company's products and processes to ensure optimal Master Production Plan (MPP) stability, order creation, rescheduling, load-leveling, etc.
  • Creates a capacity constrained daily Master Production Plan (MPP) that satisfies customer demand with optimum resource utilization, as dictated by company policy; and to be used for detailed material/capacity planning and financial planning.
  • Conducts site/portfolio rough cut capacity planning and site/portfolio MPP in terms of labor resources, shifts, equipment, and shutdowns. Participates in the Integrated Business Plan (IBP) process as required.
  • Reviews MPP, resolves issues, and optimizes MPP, running scenarios as needed.
  • Communicates/hands over constrained MPP to Detailed Scheduler. Manages transition from planning horizon to firm fence.
  • Processes order confirmations by providing Available To Ship (ATS) date as part of the Order Fulfilment Process for customer orders within a five-day horizon. Process reconfirmation orders as required. Participates in the Request to Change MPP escalation process as required.
  • Partners with Data Control to recommend planned scheduling parameters such as item master/material master data. Ensure master data is accurate and up to date (ie. Part numbers, bills of materials, vendor details).
  • Assists in the identification and resolution of conflicts with respect to manufacturing, materials, and capacity availability. Manages impact and communication of changes while maintaining order promising integrity. Escalates accordingly.
  • Participates in cross-functional meetings and forums as needed.
  • Provides Supply Planning input into S&OP process. Provides transparency of risks and opportunities. Participates in S&OP forums as applicable.
  • Executes planning to support new product launches and phase-in / phase-out events, including participation in Onboarding Meetings to provide feedback.
  • Tracks Supply Chain Key Performance Indicators and data to support process improvements and decision making.
  • Performs other Supply Chain planning / analysis as required.

PREFERRED / REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with a specialization in Supply Chain or related field required and 5-7 years of relevant experience required. Related experience and/or education may be considered.
  • Supply Chain Certification (APICS CPIM, CSCP, or similar / IBF) desirable.
  • Experience with ERP & Advanced Planning Systems is required.
  • Planning or manufacturing experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or Contract Manufacturing or Packaging
  • Personal skills, confidence and teamwork attitude are needed to effectively interface with the other functional areas of the company on a matrix basis.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
  • Ability to work on-site five days per week.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or Contract Manufacturing or Packaging
