Accounting Intern

An Accounting Intern provides financial, clerical, and administrative support to the Accounting Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Post financial transactions using appropriate computer software
• Receive and record vouchers, cash, and checks
• Enter debits and credits into software applications and databases accurately
• Check for accuracy in reports, figures, and postings
• Reconcile and report any discrepancies found in records
• Process checks when requested on a regular basis
• Accurately review, code, and process vendor invoices, including scanning and electronic filing
• Perform monthly reconciliations
• Maintain various vendor accounts while staying in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Perform data entry associated with accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Address and respond to vendor inquiries

Education and Experience

• 1-3 years of experience with accounts payable, receivable, or general accounting
• Experience and other training or certification may be substituted for education

Skills

• Proficient Microsoft Office knowledge and skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles
• High degree of attention-to-detail
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
• Strong analytical abilities
