Our family-owned and operated business is now managed by 4th generation family members of its original founders.
We are looking for a Human Resources Manager to run our People Operations function at the company. The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing personnel and daily operations of the human resources department. You will lead us in the achievement of our people related objectives for employee satisfaction, patient or customer satisfaction, labor costs targets, talent acquitition and the development and maintenance of a high performing workforce.
NOTE: For this role we are not looking for an individual looking to transition from recruiting into Human Resources. We are only actively hiring for someone with the desired HR experience and expertise.
Additionally, this is a local role and remote candidates outside of Northern California can not be considered.
Responsibilities:
Manage all HR activities, communications, reports, requests and documents created and received by the team
Complete projects by clarifying objectives, setting clear timetables and schedules, conducting research, developing and organizing information, analyzing results, and preparing final findings and recommendations
Communication with employees, supervisors, and other related parties regarding employee rights and obligations under various laws
Bridging management and employee relations by addressing needs associated with Workers Comp, DOT, FMLA, payroll, grievances or other issues
Strategically apply, monitor and enforce employment laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Exercise People Operations discipline, providing a structure to ensure smooth day-to-day operational excellence
Craft employee communications that engage employees and activate people processes, initiatives and programs
Manage employee relations by providing HR consulting expertise at all levels of the organization; identify trends and address root causes of issues
Processing of weekly union & non-union payroll for approx. 150+ employees
Ensuring accuracy of payroll deductions and costs
Timely and accurate payment of payroll liabilities
Monthly union & benefits reporting
Benefits Administration-Enrollments, terminations, changes, open enrollment
Ensure compliance with company’s procedures and practices for terminations & onboarding of new hires
Communicate with employees about compensation, benefits and other facts of their employment
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resource roles within industrial organizations
Understanding of both California and Federal Labor code
Competent with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Prior experience building a scalable, operational support infrastructure of people systems and tools
Strong functional HR expertise in process development and project management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Results driven, ability to make decisions and help solve problems
Excellent organization, time management, delegation, and prioritization skills
Nice to haves:
Experience running payroll on ADP, Paycom, Paychex, Paylocity, Workday, or another large Enterprise payroll provider
Previous experience with a Labor Union and working with Union representatives
Exposure with collective bargaining, negotiations, and consultations with labor unions
PHR/SPHR certification, preferred
Previous experience with implementation of department appropriate software implementation for HR, recruiting, payroll
Knowledge /experience in the following industries:
Food/beverage, hospitality, trucking, or manufacturing
