Job Description

Sheakley is hiring an Environmental Health & Safety Manager for our client in Sebring, FL. Our client is one of the nation's leading manufacturing firms.

Compensation Package:

$53 if local

$45/HR and $125/Day perdiem if over 50 miles from Sebring, FL

$150/Month project completion bonus

Weekly pay

Project Hours/Schedule: Hours: M-F, 0800-1700, 40hrs+/week

Staffing Type: 1099 contract

Project Duration: 6 Months

Scope of Work: EHS oversight of a manufacturing facility plant handles granular blending, liquid formulation and packaging, liquid manufacturing of surfactants, pesticides and other products.

Project approx Start:

Contractor Certification Requirements: 5 years of EHS in manufacturing experience

Environmental background/experience is a must. Experience with EPA, DEP, SWPPP


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strong communication skills, able to integrate into a team as an outsider (contractor), providing leadership, support for the Operations and Maintenance Managers, and ability to take action to address EHS issues, and;
    • Has established connections with local services to address issues.
    • Experience conducting environmental and safety inspections, and conducting internal audits.
    • Experience with ISO 14001 (environmental) and ISO 45001 (safety) implementation.
    • Demonstrates competency with environmental, health and safety, and transportation rules and regulations.
    • Certified EPA method 9 readers to conduct and report out on stack visual emissions observations per the facility's air permit requirements to Florida DEP.
    • Competent in air and water permit renewal application process with Florida DEP.
    • Competent in compiling, completing and submitting annual operating reports with Florida DEP per permit requirements.
    • Competent in conducting SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan) inspections, and reporting SWPPP related documents to Florida DEP (Department of Environmental Protection).
    • Competent in solid waste management (haz and nonhaz) rules and regulations, and ability to guide facility personnel to compliance.
    • Ability to conduct training regularly per EHS rules and regulations utilizing company's training software program (SafetySkills).

Qualifications/Education/ Experience:

5 years of work experience in manufacturing safety

Requirements

  • OSHA Regulations
  • Manufacturing safety experience such as machine guarding, hoisting lifting, and any other manufacturing safety related topics
  • Working knowledge of health and safety hazards associated with LOTO, walking and working surfaces, personal protective equipment, materials handling, and job hazard analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of EHS standards, and industry regulatory standards in construction, with the ability to communicate such standards to others.
  • Excellent public speaking abilities.
  • Energetic, ambitious, assertive, and an excellent communicator.
  • OSHA outreach training experience preferred.
  • Able to meet deadlines, and work independently without direct supervision, as well as in a team environment.
  • OSHA and regulatory safety training experience.

Skills, Specialized Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Outgoing personality, self-motivated
  • Excellent customer service, telephone, electronic, and written communication skills. Analyze and recommend improvements for safe work practices, policies, and training programs.
  • Technical experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Use of standard office equipment.
  • Organization, attention to detail, flexibility, and strong ability to multi-task interfacing with multiple client situations on any given workday.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision. Must embrace a team-based, initiative-driven environment.
  • Effectively work with others to build consensus and rapport
  • Work conditions are typically warehouse, clinical, manufacturing facilities, construction projects, and field conditions. May require working after hours, occasional weekends to respond to emergency or non-emergency situations
