Job Summary:
Performs the various duties as designated for Personal Trainer including baseline testing, customized
personal training programs for participants, as well as development and marketing of the personal
training program. Functions within the scope of their certification and in accordance with state and
federal law.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs baseline and follow up testing.
Manage and coordinate fitness programs
Develop/implement participant progression programs utilizing available resources as indicated.
Performs customized personal training and customization including group and class programs.
Markets the program under managers oversight
Performs participant education in the areas of fitness, health, activity modification, etc.
Work closely with PACE Dietitians for nutritional education, classes, and needs for the
participants.
Demonstrates techniques and form, observe participants, and explains to them corrective
measures necessary to improve their physical fitness
Instructs participants in maintaining exertion levels to maximize benefits from exercise routines
Operate and instruct others in proper operation of fitness equipment, such as, but not limited to
weight machines, exercises bicycles, dumbbells, treadmills, and elliptical.
Evaluate participants abilities, needs, and physical condition and develop suitable training
program to meet special requirements including, but not limited to functional mobility
equipment use, oxygen use, medical or physical restrictions, precautions, or contraindications
Monitor participants progress and adapt program as needed
Explain and enforce safety rules and requirements with use of equipment and fitness activities
Provide and inform participants of recourses regarding weight control, nutrition, and lifestyle
issues.
Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment and/or gym with well-stocked supplies and
functioning equipment.
Other job duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Working knowledge of functional anatomy, biomechanics, and exercise physiology.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Job Description

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with participants, families, coworkers,
and supervisors.

Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field (preferred)
National personal trainer certification (required)
Current CPR certification (required)
1 year experience (preferred).
Geriatric Certification/Specialization and 1 year experience working with geriatric population
(preferred)
