Proposed Schedule:

  • Monday availability is required.
  • Remaining hours are flexible across the week, generally within an 8am5pm window, Monday through Friday.

About Our Family:

We're a busy, two-career household in Elmhurst, IL with two young daughters who keep us on our toes. Both parents work full-time in demanding professional roles, and the pace of life has picked up significantly over the past year.

We value a home that feels calm, organized, and well cared for. We appreciate the feeling of walking into a house that has been thoughtfully reset and where the everyday details are under control. Right now, our biggest challenges are the daily accumulation of laundry, tidying, and general household upkeep that often spills into our evenings and weekends. We're looking for someone who can help take those tasks off our plate and give our family back more time to relax and enjoy being together.

We travel occasionally and operate fairly independently day-to-day, so trust and initiative are incredibly important to us. We're looking for someone who can walk into our home, read the room, and confidently take ownership of what needs to be done without needing constant direction. The right person will become a trusted partner in helping our household run smoothly and create more ease in our everyday lives.

Who We're Looking For

You are self-directed and proactive, the kind of person who walks into a space, quickly notices what needs attention, and takes care of it without needing to be asked. You are naturally observant and resourceful, able to prioritize what matters most while finding ways to be helpful even on quieter days.

You are discreet, professional, and comfortable working with a light footprint in a private home where a parent may occasionally be working nearby. You understand the importance of respecting boundaries while still being a warm, reliable presence. You communicate clearly and efficiently, asking thoughtful questions when needed while also feeling confident making decisions independently.

Over time, you become an extension of the household by learning its rhythms, building trust, and anticipating needs before they arise. You take pride in being someone a family can rely on and enjoy bringing a thoughtful, steady presence to the home.

Key Responsibilities:

Laundry & Linens

  • Full family laundry including washing, folding, and putting away
  • Ironing and steaming; special garment care as needed
  • Weekly rotation of bed linens and towels
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Daily resets: dishes, countertops, surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas
  • Toy and living area tidying; regular resets of children's spaces
  • Prep home ahead of monthly deep clean
  • Periodic pantry organization: identify and remove expired items, note what needs restocking and add to a running list
  • Light home maintenance: replace batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detector batteries as needed
  • Unpack and put away items after family travel
  • Seasonal deep cleaning of areas not covered by monthly cleaner (baseboards, windows, etc.)
  • Plant care (as needed)

Inventory & Errands

  • Manage Target pickup orders; bring in and put away household supplies
  • Bring in and unload scheduled delivery orders (e.g., Chewy auto-ship)
  • Weekly dry cleaning pickup and returns as needed
  • Break down and dispose of boxes
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Gift shopping as needed, particularly for children's occasions

Pet Care

  • Scoop and maintain litter box as needed, clean up any pet messes (e.g., hairballs)
  • Feed cat when present during mealtime
  • Monthly vet visit for arthritis injection and nail trim
  • Maintain and put away pet supply deliveries

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Seasonal deep cleans: baseboards, windows, oven, fridge, and other areas not addressed by monthly cleaner
  • Organizational projects: toys, children's gear, and household storage areas
  • Garage, mudroom, and entryway refreshes

Vehicle Upkeep

  • At-home cleaning and organizing of family vehicle(s)
  • Vacuum and maintain car seats
  • Stock and refresh go-bags
  • Schedule vehicle service appointments as needed

Family Support

  • Light backup childcare on sick days or unplanned daycare closures
  • Open to school drop-off and pickup in the future as the role evolves
  • Occasional coordination with extended family as needed

Meal Support

  • Kitchen tidying and cleanup after any food-related tasks
  • Cooking and meal prep are a valued bonus; open to occasional meal prep or freezer-friendly cooking once a week, but not a requirement

How to Apply:

Please submit:

  • A short letter introducing yourself and explaining why you'd be a great fit.
  • Your updated resume.
