SUMMARY
The Vice President of Security is the senior executive accountable for developing, implementing and directing the security operations program and further enhancing the culture around safety and security for Aunt Martha’s Integrated Care Center, including people, assets, reputation, and business. Provides strategic planning and operational oversight for all elements of an effective and functional security program that prioritizes and addresses security risks and creates a safe and secure environment for youth and personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Directs and coordinates all administrative and operational activities related to planning, organizing and maintaining the security and safety of youth, personnel, visitors and property.
- Develop, manage and review of security policies, standard operating procedures, security training and
- submit documents as required.
- Conducts vulnerability assessments and identifies and evaluates potential security technologies and practices for perimeter protection, physical access authorization, installation of cameras, and surveillance tools.
- Develops and documents data-driven standards for measuring efficiency and effectiveness of security function.
- Provide training, orientation and technical assistance to security personnel to ensure that security personnel are aware of and abide by all security policies, procedures and properly utilize various application/systems utilized by the department.
- Direct training programs, tabletop exercises and practical drills to effectively prepare security personnel on identification and response to irregular/suspicious behaviors and/or activities.
- Establish security personnel goals, objectives and metrics; performs regular evaluations, coaching and mentoring, manages poor performance with disciplinary actions / corrective action plans; actively participates in the screening of individuals for security positions ensuring all candidates meet requirements.
- Provide leadership and guidance to security personnel and frontline staff, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Leading the team in incident management and conflict resolution.
- Maintains effective communication with all agency personnel, contractors, and authorized vendors through the timely preparation and response to verbal and written documents, meeting requests, email, phone calls, text messages, etc.
- Obtain a proficient knowledge of the required training of security personnel including but not limited to clinical model / behavior management program, de-escalation techniques, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), etc.
- Prepares complex reports, correspondence, and other documents.
- Acting as a liaison with local law enforcement agencies.
- Attends meetings, trainings and conferences, as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides direct supervision to the Security Supervisors and is responsible for the performance of the security function and its personnel in its entirety. The position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsibilities include working flexible hours, on-site, in-person during regular business hours; afterhours and on weekends as needed. This position is exempt and must be available for calls afterhours as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of documented supervisory experience in law enforcement, military or correctional facility or a bachelor’s degree in a security related field and 5+ years of documented supervisory experience.
- Thorough understanding of security management obligations.
- Genuine desire to provide security services with a high degree of personal responsibility.
- Leadership with ability to manage and motivate a team.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Current driver’s license
- Current auto insurance
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Must have the ability to remain calm, take command, provide guidance, make sound, independent decisions, and resolve conflicts during security incidents and emergency situations
- Must be proficient in report writing and documentation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish credibility with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Must successfully pass background checks
