Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, resourceful, reliable individual to lead our purchasing and warehouse team.  This position is responsible for managing all aspects of inventory control, including supplier selection and management, procurement, inventory level optimization and cost negotiation for our manufacturing and other operational activities.

Job Overview:

Source, negotiate and procure all materials and equipment needed in the manufacturing process.  Support all departments in meeting business targets and forecasts by managing necessary purchasing decisions with the best available, highest value supply chain options.  Develop a continuous improvement vision and support activities within the department.

 Core Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize inventory levels and minimize costs.

·        Provide daily leadership and guidance to the purchasing and warehouse team to foster a positive and effective work environment.

·        Monitor inventory levels and ensure accuracy through regular cycle counts and audits.

·        Implement and maintain effective inventory control measures to ensure proper utilization of resources and reduce carrying costs.

·        Identify, evaluate and select reliable suppliers based on quality, delivery and price capabilities.

·        Monitor supplier performance and conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with contractual terms and service level agreement.

·        Evaluate supplier performance and make recommendations for improvements.

·        Negotiate to achieve the best supplier quality, delivery, and pricing performance.

·        Assure smooth transport and on-time delivery of goods.

·        Work with suppliers to quickly address discrepancies with materials and components.

·        Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and plan purchasing strategies.

·        Process requisitions and update operational teams the on status of orders.

·        Develop and manage budgets for procurement activities, tracking metrics and reporting variances.

·        Analyze and update management on market trends to make insightful buying decisions.

·        Assess financial risk of purchases.

·        Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, such as supply chain disruptions or supplier reliability issues. Ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in all procurement activities.

·        Train and develop team members and ensure their professional growth and operational excellence.

  • Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

Position Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university

·        3-5 years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience working in a buyer role, preferably in a production system environment.

·        Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports, technical journals, and legal documents.

·        Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, vendors and regulatory agencies.

·        Must have strong work ethic, excellent communication, negotiation and organizational skills; be professional, punctual, and detail-  oriented.

·        Embrace Team Player mentality; works well with others.

·        Self-starter, active problem solver and ability to analyze information.

·        Adept in using various computer applications including data bases, spreadsheets, report writing, project management, graphics, word processing, communicating by email and using scheduling software.  Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite highly recommended. Data Entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe PDF.

·        Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs. occasionally and be able to sit, stand use hands and fingers to type or dial and talk and hear.

·        Occasional overnight travel for visits to suppliers, continuous improvement opportunities or educational events.

·        Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.  Automobile liability coverage or access to an insured vehicle as needed.  

 

Details:
Job Type: Full-time, Monday thru Friday
Shift: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (1 hr. lunch)
Salary: Starting $ depending on experience
