Associate Broker

Position Overview:
Assist the Brokerage Team in account maintenance as well as various underwriting tasks as assigned. Analyzes account-specific information (including but not limited to loss information, financials, loss control reports, prior carrier information and targeted terms) and prepares risk for referral to Brokers.
Job Responsibilities:
• Within given authority levels and company guidelines, accepts, rejects, or modifies new and renewal business for the commercial lines Brokerage department with guidance from the Brokers and Manager.
• Markets Company products through agent contacts to achieve departmental growth and profitability targets.
• Develops on-going relationships with agents, meets service standards established for new and renewal business, and keeps agent up to date with market and/or product changes.
• May communicate policy term changes as directed by Brokers and/or Companies. May recommend constraints on business an agent may submit or recommend that an agent be suspended.
• Promotes public image of the Company by actively participating in industry related groups and by networking within the insurance community to keep abreast of changes in the industry.
• Achieve written premium and income goals set by management on a quarterly basis.
• Comprehend and maintain underwriting manuals for all companies represented.
• Travel as deemed necessary by the Manager, to both agencies & company conventions.
• Comfortable discussing team goals and actively participating in achieving these goals.
• Adhere to company-wide minimum service standards.
• Knowledge of the independent agency system and economics - assess the capacity of market, territory, and individual agencies to identify and act on growth opportunities.
• Demonstrate accountability for the assigned territory by being innovative and identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement in results.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
- 1 year of experience or less and:
- an RMI degree or CPCU, or RPLU, or CIW or CIC, or a graduate degree
- or 2 plus years of directly related experience in Brokerage or P&C Underwriting

- MS Word & Excel experience required

- Ability to clearly and effectively present (both written and verbal) to external business partners, management, and internal business partners.

Typical Physical Demands:
• Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, occasional stooping, and reaching; May require lifting-up to 25 pounds; requires normal range of vision and hearing with or without accommodations.
