Fixed Asset Accountant

SUMMARY

Seeking an accountant to assist in the accounting for fixed assets for a publicly traded company. The candidate will work with various aspects of the business (accounting, finance, tax) to ensure fixed assets are correctly accounted for and recorded in the general ledger for book and tax purposes. This will include accounting for fixed assets acquired as part of acquisitions and Greenfield projects.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA or in process of obtaining CPA preferred.
• A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in finance or accounting is preferred.
• Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles especially with regards to fixed assets.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting and general ledger maintenance.
• Familiarity with IRS tax depreciation rules (MACRS) is preferred
• Proficiency in Excel required.
• JDE / Oracle general ledger software experience a plus.
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable, strong organization and time management skills.
• Embraces change and willing to learn new skills; a self-starter.
• Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and ability to cultivate working relationships throughout the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage capital request as compared to budgeted amounts
• Interpret invoices to allocate costs between fixed assets/ projects/ locations.
• Support internal and external audits relating to fixed assets.
• Conduct monthly close processes including journal entries, fixed asset roll-forwards, asset depreciation, disposals, transfers, etc.
• Collaborate with construction team to manage construction in progress balances for capital projects.
• Assist Finance leads in the preparation of annual capital spend budgets and forecasts.
• Ensure fixed assets in the tax ledger are properly accounted for in tandem with the book ledger.
• Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Prepare ad hoc reporting as required.
• Assist in identifying manual processes for automation to improve efficiency.
