Debt Solutions (Collections) Specialist

Role:

The Debt Solutions Specialist participates in maintaining financially sound shares and loan portfolio through early delinquency control methods to accomplish this include but are not limited to phone calls, collection letters, and interviews with members to determine reason for delinquency. Makes payment arrangements on delinquent shares or loans. Takes appropriate action to resolve the account (could include loan modifications or loan workouts), counseling members concerning their financial obligations and ordering suggestions and alternatives. Recommends further action on accounts as deemed necessary including but not limited to: repossession, legal action, foreclosure and referral to collection agency.

Responsibilities:

Interview members to determine reason for delinquency. Take appropriate action to resolve the account (could include loan extensions, loan modifications or loan workouts). Counsel members concerning their financial obligations, advises of options and solicits agreement of payments.

Respond to member and third-party inquiries by phone and in person could include, but not limited to: requests to transport our collateral, CPI / insurance claims, total loss claims, Credit Life/Disability claims, GAP and other loan sold insurances, NADA values, address updates.

Recommend further action as deemed necessary (i.e. repossession, legal action, foreclosure, referral to collection agency). Demonstrates judgment and discretion within the framework of all applicable regulations and policies.

Reviews and responds to all e-Oscar requests on a weekly basis

Ensure members are kept updated and complete all required documents, includes completion of adverse action letters/forms.

Monitor and process loan payoff information and provide this communication to dealerships, insurance companies and all appropriate parties in an accurate and timely manner.

Assists in preparing delinquent accounts for charge-offs and post charge-off

Assists in assigning files to collection agencies and/or attorneys.

Assists in the oversight and monitoring of bankruptcy filings.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
