JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resource Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the HR department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Collaborates with HR senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  1. Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs. This includes among other things establishing and maintaining required regulatory compliance training programs (i.e., HIPPA, Harassment, Workplace Violence, Blood borne Pathogens, etc.).
  2. Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  3. Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management. Supports through HR generalist all aspects of the recruiting process from sourcing to offer and ensuring the secure of required documentation for professional licenses and background screens. This also includes orientation and onboarding of newly hired employees to the business.
  1. Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  1. Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  1. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  2. Develops and implements departmental budget.
  3. Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  4. Represent the organization on Boards and Committees as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: (Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels, and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position.)

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; or a minimum of ten years Human Resource experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
  2. SHRM CP or SHRM SCP, PHR or SPHR certification highly preferred.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  1. Five years of progressively responsible supervisory or leadership experience in human resources.
  1. Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  2. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  3. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  4. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  5. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality.

WORKING CONDITIONS: (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position.)

  • This position is on-site in Morrisville VT.
  • Internal- Work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of job duties.
  • External- Travel to other LHP locations is required along with other outside meetings.
  • Workdays are typically Monday through Friday.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (The physical effort generally associated with this position.)

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing approximately 50 pounds such as files, documents, equipment, and soft goods.
