Reports to – Manager of Human Resources

Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist plays a vital role in managing both general HR functions and the administration of employee benefits programs. This role requires a strong background in human resources with specialized knowledge in benefits administration and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our employees. Additionally, the Human Resources Generalist supports the Global Human Resources team on a number of diverse initiatives and priorities.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries as they relate to all HR functions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across regions to ensure consistency and alignment in HR practices and processes.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits
  • Coordinate open enrollment periods, including communication with employees, vendors, and the implementation of any changes to benefit plans.
  • Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other applicable regulations.
  • Prepare compliance reports such as EEOC, ACA, 1095C
  • Handle employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including personnel files, benefits enrollments, and other HR-related documentation.
  • Annual climate survey set up and administration with ad hock survey monkey surveys as needed
  • Help to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and applicable regulations and reporting
  • Coordinate recruitment process including assisting hiring managers with the development of job descriptions, job postings, screening, scheduling interviews, interviewing, and coaching managers on best practices, ensuring the compatibility of applicants, NCS and the job positions.
  • Manage the reference check and offer processes, including scheduling checks, offer letters and employment agreements.
  • Provide onboarding support for all new hires, including onboarding orientation, office setup, new hire documentation, benefits enrollment, etc.
  • Maintain regular reporting of HR metrics and reports including vacancies, new background hires, turn over, etc.
  • Generate and manage employee documentation as it relates to transfers, promotions etc. for employees.
  • Submit new hire, transfer, promotional, and termination paperwork to payroll for processing.
  • Maintain human resource data bases including HRIS System, HR shared drive and manual filing systems.
  • Work with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Assist with editing and creating human resources related communications content including human resources announcements, presentations, forms, training materials, etc.
  • Assist with HR related audits both internally and externally as requested.
  • Assist with employee performance review process as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of regional employment requirements.
  • Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer.
  • Align individual goals with NCS’s corporate goals, while adhering to and promoting the NCS Promise.
  • Participate in Personal Development for Success (PDS).
  • Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources with a focus on benefits administration.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits regulations, including ERISA, ACA, and other relevant laws.
  • Proficiency in benefits administration software and HRIS systems, with the ability to generate reports and analyze data.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team player with a proactive attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in SharePoint; asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now HRIS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Elevated level of efficiency and work ethic, with high level attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and changing corporate environment.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.

Additional Information

  • Status: Overtime Exempt
  • Employment Classification: Full-time, Regular
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm, with option to apply for the Hybrid Work Program
  • Special Equipment: Laptop
  • Travel: Local travel between NCS facilities
  • Bonus Eligible
