SALT - Staff Tax Accountant

Hire Resolve's client, a prestigious accounting firm in Chicago, IL, is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented SALT (State and Local Tax) Staff Tax Accountant to join their team. The firm specializes in providing comprehensive tax and advisory services to a diverse client base.

In this role, the SALT Staff Tax Accountant will be responsible for assisting with state and local tax compliance, planning, and research. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SALT, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Their industries include Manufacturing, Distribution, Real Estate, Construction, Tech, Start-Ups .

Responsibilities:

• Assist with state and local tax compliance and reporting
• Research and analyze state and local tax issues and regulations
• Prepare and review state and local tax returns
• Assist with state and local tax planning and consulting for clients
• Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and address questions or concerns
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects

Requirements

• Bachelor's/Masters degree in Accounting or related field
• 1-3 years of experience in SALT or general tax accounting
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred (150 Credits)
• Strong knowledge of state and local tax laws and regulations
• Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
• Strong communication and client service skills
• Complete workpapers and prepare franchise and income tax returns for various states, including exemptions, credits, and incentives. 
• Prepare tax resolution notices, gather data, and assist in tax field exams. 
• Participate in continuing education classes to stay up to date on accounting standards and tax law. 
• Other projects as assigned.
