Job Summary
The position will focus primarily on supporting M&A transactions, investment-related tax matters, tax planning initiatives, tax controversy, and transfer pricing, while also contributing to U.S. tax compliance and tax provision financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a strong public accounting foundation, is interested in exposure to sophisticated corporate tax issues and strategic business initiatives, and can collaborate with finance colleagues within the company, personnel at the business units, and other tax professionals within the Arch group.
This role is hybrid, with two days in the White Plains, NY or Greensboro, NC office and three days remote.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support tax due diligence, structuring, and modeling for corporate acquisitions, dispositions, reorganizations, and joint ventures.
  • Perform tax analysis of transaction structures, purchase price allocations, and technical research related to transaction tax issues.
  • Evaluate optimal tax placement considerations for alternative investment fund opportunities, as well as other traditional asset class transactions.
  • Support development and implementation of US and International tax planning strategies and business initiatives.
  • Conduct technical research on emerging legislation, IRS guidance, and industry-specific tax issues.
  • Assist with global and domestic transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transaction analysis.
  • Assist in responding to Federal and State tax authority inquiries, information requests, and audit examinations.
  • Provide limited assistance with federal income tax compliance, including review of proforma returns and consolidated forms and workpapers.
  • Provide periodic support to quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP tax provision calculations (ASC 740).
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (Finance, Treasury, Legal, Investments) to gather data and ensure accuracy of tax reporting.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of public accounting (Big 4 of large regional firm) and/or in-house corporate tax experience; Insurance Industry exposure is a plus but not required.
  • In-depth understanding of U.S. federal income tax principles, including areas such as M&A, investments, and partnerships.
  • Strong ASC 740 and general accounting knowledge with an understanding of tax implications on general ledger and financial statements.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and demonstrate effective time management.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a strong operational focus.
  • Data analysis and data extraction skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills and use of pivot tables.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with ability and experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with tax research tools and Microsoft Excel; experience with tax compliance software is a plus.

Education
  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • CPA certification or other related advanced degree preferred

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
