Johnstone Supply, North Americas leading wholesale distributor of HVACR equipment, parts, and supplies has a great opportunity for a Corporate Development Associate to join our team. As a member of the Finance Team, the Corporate Development Associate plays a key role in the continued success of our company's Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), capital raising, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and investor relations (IR) efforts.

Position responsibilities:

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of potential acquisitions, financings, and research potential M&A targets.
  • Perform pro forma financial analysis, budgeting/forecasting, business valuations, and assists in the preparation of financial models and other materials to be used in presentations and as support for financing and M&A transactions.
  • Analyze industry trends and provide insights to management and private equity sponsors.
  • Analyze and evaluate potential acquisition targets’ documents working with key partners (tax, legal, accounting) and provide insights to management and private equity sponsors.
  • Participate in the due diligence process by working closely with sellers, and other key 3rd parties (tax, legal, accounting).
  • Assist in ad-hoc reporting to Bank, Audit, private equity sponsors and other partners.
  • Communicate regularly with M&A and integration teams to ensure transaction terms are supported or expectations are revised based on diligence findings.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal partners, senior leadership, private equity sponsor and 3rd parties.
  • Supports the identification, valuation, planning, and execution of internal and external business development opportunities and acquisitions.
  • Gathers and evaluates data, including financial and operational information, developing projections and valuation analyses.
  • Supports due diligence and post-closing integration of acquisitions.

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, with preference given to a specialized degree in Accounting or Finance; At least 3 years of experience in business; with preference given to experience in financial and M&A analysis.
  • Adept at assessing and interpreting operational and financial statements and developing forward projections and business plans.
  • Highly competent with financial modeling and acquisition analyses.
  • Knowledge of the primary valuation methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to evaluate returns to investors associated with certain corporate transactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to attend to detail at a high level of accuracy.
  • Works well under pressure and meets deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate information across different individuals, departments, and external parties.
