Assistant Compliance Manager

REPORTS TO: Senior Compliance Manager

HOURS: Full time, 40 hours per week

PAY RANGE: $75,000 to $85,000 annually

BENEFITS: Medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long term disability insurance and sick leave are available to employees. Employees accrue 116 hours of vacation during the first year and receive 11 paid holidays (Prorated for part-time employees.)

Position type: Exempt, mid-level management position

LIHI is an affordable housing developer housing homeless and low income tenants in the City of Seattle and the Puget Sound Area. The Assistant Compliance Manager is a mid-level position that will report directly to the Senior Compliance Manager and will assist with ensuring compliance standards are maintained at appropriate levels per all funding and regulatory requirements. Funders include but may not be limited to HUD, WSHFC, HOME, Department of Commerce, and the Seattle Office of Housing.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide staff training in regard to HUD, LIHTC, HOME, HTF, BOND and SOH regulations and guidelines as needed, for new and existing staff.
  • Perform file audits and site visits as assigned and required to ensure compliance is always maintained within applicable laws and funder requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing and Landlord Tenant Laws.
  • Assist with preparing annual reports to regulatory agencies, local, state, and federal funders.
  • Work with the Compliance Team in preparing for and responding to site visits by HUD, WSHFC, SOH, and other applicable monitoring agencies.
  • Work with site staff to ensure all households are kept current on LIHTC, HUD, HTF, BOND, SOH and HOME eligibility and occupancy requirements including but not limited to inspections, move ins, move outs, transfers, annual re-certifications, and interim re-certifications.
  • Enter data and maintain information and reports utilizing LIHI data base.
  • Maintain EIV reports, weekly and monthly and resolve report discrepancies.
  • Assist the Compliance Team in crafting and updating policies and procedures.
  • Attend LIHI and industry mandatory trainings as needed.
  • Support the overall mission of the Low Income Housing Institute.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree or equivalent housing industry compliance experience.
  • Experience with low-income communities.
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing and Landlord/Tenant laws
  • Professional, clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
  • Must pass criminal background checks and drug screening.
  • Able to work in an office environment
  • Knowledge of HUD and LIHTC funding programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Bostonpost property management software or comparable property management software in an implementation or training capacity.
  • Experience as Compliance Specialist with Management Company with large LIHTC or HUD Sec. 8 portfolio.
