Salary: $75k - $90k

POSITION: The Development Director plays a critical role in advancing the organization's mission and goals and reports to the Executive Director as a senior leadership team member. The successful candidate will be responsible for marrying funding strategy with organizational strategy to support and advance the Wellspring mission. The successful candidate will also be primarily responsible for establishing a culture of development and fundraising that permeates and energizes the entire organization, including its Board of Directors, and beyond to its broader constituents. This position requires a dynamic individual with exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship building skills, who is committed to making a positive impact towards Wellspring’s mission. The successful candidate will also possess a deep interest in and passion for our innovative model of empowering adults with I/DD. 

  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY OBJECTVES 

 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual revenue goals and long-term sustainability objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to establish fundraising priorities and initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Work closely with Executive Director to track fundraising revenue, expenses, and budget projection of $1.5 million plus. Embracing financial stewardship with fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Identify new funding opportunities, including grants, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, corporations, and community organizations, and planned giving and legacy initiatives.
  • Implement stewardship strategies to recognize and retain donors, ensuring a positive donor experience and long-term engagement.
  • Oversee donor communication efforts, including newsletters, annual reports, and donor recognition events.
  • Monitor grant deliverables and reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with grant agreements and deadlines.
  • Supervise and mentor development staff, providing guidance and support to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Maintain a positive reputation in the community through community awareness, brand identity and community partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the development team to align fundraising messaging and materials with the organization’s brand and mission.
  • Represent the organization at community events, networking functions, and fundraising activities.
  • Consistently model integrity in interactions with donors, colleagues, and the community, serving as a role model for ethical behavior within the organization.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and trust within the development team and across the organization.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and initiatives, adjusting as needed to optimize results.

  

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, communications, or related field
  • A minimum of five years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven record of accomplishment of success in donor cultivation and revenue generation.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team toward common goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organization’s mission and impact to diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies.
  • Experience developing and executing capital campaigns. (Preferred but not required)
  • Proficiency in donor management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and values.

Full Time (Hours of work vary, some evenings and weekends will be required)
