Vice President of Vision Rehabilitation Services

Job Description:

VIA Visually Impaired Advancement is seeking a full time Vice President (VP) of Vision Rehabilitation Services to work 37.5 hours per week.

Under the direction of the President/CEO, the VP of Vision Rehabilitation is responsible for setting the overall strategic direction of vision rehabilitation services and implementing the programs and services that are aligned with current needs of people who are blind and visually impaired. Areas of oversight include VIA's low vision clinic, vision rehabilitation, workforce development, and school-based services.

Essential Functions:

Program Operations

  • Maintain continuous awareness of current needs of people who are blind and visually impaired and ensure agency programs and services are aligned to address them.
  • Oversee vision rehabilitation services operations including program development, day-to-day delivery of services, and the management of financial, human and capital resources.
  • Set and achieve customer service levels that meet or exceed community standard for service to clients and families, referring and/or collaborative partners, as well as internal and external professional colleagues.
  • Align operations to ensure cases are prioritized and assigned based on client need; progressive and realistic goals are established; documentation accurately reflects client response to services; appropriate resources are provided and advocated for; and cases are closed upon satisfaction of client needs or a plateau in response to care.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory and quality standards; ensure program offerings remain in good standing.
  • Establish and engage with a network of professional colleagues, remain up to date on progressive topics in vision rehabilitation.
  • Establish regular and ongoing two-way communication with staff. Ensure staff are aware of strategic and day-to-day goals of the agency and how their personal contribution contributes to the agency plan.
  • Establish quantitative and qualitative goals for the department and staff that are based on agency strategic plan and contractual obligations. Identify variances to plan, opportunities to improve performance, request assistance when needed, and alert leadership when at risk.
  • Measure performance as compared to standards on a frequent and regular basis. Recognize good performance and celebrate successes
  • Maintain an extensive awareness of agency programs, features, benefits, marketing/presentation materials, the needs of the visually impaired population, and trends in rehabilitation services.

People

  • Serve as a positive, uplifting role model and resource for others.
  • Recruit, hire and retain individuals who demonstrate agency core values and required performance competencies.
  • Mentor direct reports, communicate expectations, provide frequent and regular training to build upon employee strengths and skills.
  • Proactively engage with professional colleagues, agencies, medical service providers and other strategic partners to identify opportunities for the agency to better serve others, grow our client base and/or to increase community awareness of the needs of the visually impaired population and the services of the agency.

Strategic Growth, Outreach & Advocacy

  • Actively participate in the senior leadership team; assist in the development of the agency strategic plan as well as the annual financial and operating objectives.
  • Maintain an awareness of industry and market best practices, contribute ideas and efforts to the achievement of long-term goals.
  • Create annual financial and non-financial goals and prioritize initiatives that will lead to the agency achieving the annual plan.
  • Ensure the target market is clear, and that our website, marketing and sales efforts are focused on reaching that market.
  • Oversee and conduct presentations for local, national and community groups and service providers to communicate the features and benefits of agency programs.
  • Assist in securing and fulfilling grants that contribute towards fulfilling our agency mission.
  • Provide facility tours to potential clients, industry partners, and/or community partners to increase overall understanding of the mission and services provided by the agency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services, health services, education, occupational therapy or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated results in human services/healthcare related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated management/leadership experience
  • Preferred 5+ years of demonstrated management/leadership experience
  • Experience with visually impaired individuals is preferred

Compensation:

  • $85,000-$100,000 annually
