This is a hybrid position (2/3 days a week) at our office in Naperville, Illinois.

Director of Human Resources Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic counsel to senior-level leaders in the areas of organizational effectiveness, org design, talent management, colleague development, performance management, and coaching.
  • Partner with senior management to identify and proactively develop talent through formal training, mentoring, coaching, and "stretch" assignments.
  • Provide support to multiple areas of business, working cross-functionally and assisting leaders at many levels in optimizing the performance of their teams, aligning on shared goals and imperatives, and resolving issues.
  • Develop and implement HR strategy that drives employee engagement.
  • Oversee the talent planning processes with Talent Acquisitions Associate Director and Training and Development Associate Director to ensure plans are in place and executed to grow talent in the organization and ensure viable successors for key roles.
  • Implement creative solutions to increase employee engagement and ensure retention of talent.
  • Provide input and counsel in the development of human resources policies and programs.
  • Lead company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth.
  • Direct the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with laws. Approves all information submitted. Serves as the primary contact with the company employment law attorney and outside government agencies.
  • Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company HR policies and governmental laws and regulations. Minimizes risk.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources in Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, or other related discipline required.
  • 12+ years of broad and progressive HR leadership for a company 250+ in size.
  • Must be able to roll up your sleeves and execute while also demonstrating strategic prowess.
  • Deep knowledge across Human Resources, organizational design, leadership development, compensation, talent management and DEI.
  • Experience managing in a matrixed environment that continuously prioritizes operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to manage relationships effectively and diplomatically.
  • Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Mission + mission driven leadership; experience engaging employees with the culture in meaningful ways.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to Human Resources.
  • Strong business acumen and an in-depth understanding of the HR and financial implications of business decisions.
  • Decisive and logical at thoroughly evaluating issues and executes at a high level.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines.
