Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and strategic-minded Learning and Development Manager to support our organization's growth and success. The ideal candidate plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and overseeing training programs for employees within an organization. This position requires a blend of instructional design expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to assess training needs across various departments. The Training Manager collaborates closely with department heads and HR to ensure that training initiatives align with organizational goals and promote employee development and growth.

What You Do

  • Provides oversight and management of learning and development functions to include leadership and supervisory training, soft skills, sales, product, process, procedures, and systems.
  • Conducts needs assessment and develops strategies to support the ongoing needs of the company.
  • Gathers feedback from managers, employees, and stakeholders to understand skill gaps and training requirements.
  • Develops and/or acquires training materials, presentations, and manuals using various instructional design techniques.
  • Ensures training content aligns with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
  • Ensures delivery methods (in person or online) are effective and return the desired results.
  • Administers spending against the departmental budget.
  • Plans, organizes, and facilitates training sessions using a variety of methods, including in-person workshops, online courses, and seminars.
  • Engages participants through interactive activities, discussions, and practical exercises.
  • Adapts training delivery methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and preferences.
  • Trains and coaches leaders and others are involved in employee development efforts.
  • Ensures the learning management system is effectively configured and utilized.
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
  • Conducts follow-up studies of completed learning events to evaluate and measure results.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Measures the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Analyzes training outcomes to determine areas of improvement and make necessary adjustments to training curriculum and delivery methods.
  • Tracks training metrics and reports on key performance indicators to stakeholders.
  • Stays current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in training and development.
  • Continuously enhances personal knowledge and skills through professional development activities, workshops, and conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Effectiveness, Business Administration, or closely related field preferred.
  • Five years of experience designing and implementing learning and development programs are required.
  • Previous experience in retail, manufacturing, distribution, or corporate environments required.
  • Design or furniture industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with e-learning software (such as Articulate) or relevant content creation programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and principles and instructional systems designed for both groups and individuals.
  • Ability to clearly convey concepts and strategies in verbal/written communications; able to simplify complexity and develop succinct and focused messages.
  • Ability to build rapport and credibility among cross-functional teams and within all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented and the ability to set priorities and objectives.
  • Excellent computer software skills with working knowledge of all MS Office Products and a basic understanding of Adobe applications.
  • Professional certification in learning or human resources is preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, including overnight.
