Our client is seeking a Human Resources Manager to support construction locations and local offices throughout Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and other states. Our client is a rapidly growing company in the construction industry. Due to growth, this is a newly created role for an HR Manager to execute the planning, coordination, facilitation, and oversight of all HR activities throughout the company.
The Role
While our client has many existing HR policies and functions in place, many duties fall on other departments. These functions include policies, performance reviews, onboarding, offboarding, employee benefits, compensation, equal opportunity matters, conflict resolution, employee relations, recruiting, and DOT compliance. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for consolidating these functions within a single department while providing managerial and administrative duties. This is an opportunity to put your handprint on an organization and help build a comprehensive and cohesive HR department.
This role can be based in one of several locations, including Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Midland/Odessa or Oklahoma City. Please note that frequent travel (30% to 50%) is required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate HR initiatives, policies, procedures and processes to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
- Identify and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with Federal and local employment law.
- Identify hiring requirements and work to advance streamline the hiring process.
- Create job descriptions and ensure proper classification of employees (FLSA).
- Modify policies, procedures, employee actions, programs as needed.
- Negotiate and collaborate with benefit providers, brokers, and consultants to resolve complex benefits-related issues.
- Develop performance management and improvement systems.
- Ensure compliance with company privacy strategy and data protection requirements.
- Prepare offer letters and all other necessary hiring documentation.
- Oversee background checks, drug and alcohol testing, check parental obligations, etc.
- Confidentially manage and maintain detailed, organized and accurate records of employee files.
- Manage HR KPIs and develop departmental metrics.
- Lead special projects assigned by the President.
- Maintain organizational charts and job descriptions.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in Human Resources role as a Generalist. Manager or Business Partner, within the construction, oil & gas, or manufacturing industries.
- Experience covering multiple states strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline. SPHR is preferred.
- Knowledge of employee classifications (including Non-DOT, PHMSA, FMCSA).
- Experience with the human resources information system (HRIS).
- Knowledge of labor and employment laws.
- Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred.
- Experience with DOT regulations and maintaining DOT driver files.
- Experience with workplace investigations is required.
- Knowledge of ADA, EEO and ADEA issues.
- Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.
- Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
