Position Purpose:
The Project Manager Technology & Innovation is responsible for project leadership for technology and product development processes from ideation through execution and manages technology related external collaborations.  This position works cross-functionally with multiple teams to facilitate new products & projects through the stage-gate process meeting timeline and budgeting milestones.

Essential Duties:
  • Develops, maintains, and updates the product development pipeline to ensure new projects & products are launched on schedule and on budget.
  • Manages the product development process and collaborates with cross-functional teams to bring new products through our stage-gate initiative, including but not limited to the following:
  • Provide support for the design, development, implementation, and commercialization of products.
  • Ensuring process documentation and project plans are up to standards with defined metrics for each project and that can be easily rolled up and reported to executive level managers.
  • Help implement and support current processes. Owner of NPD process.
  • Works with functional leaders to identify new product requirements by providing input to the financial modeling and business case development in collaboration with the CFO’s office and commercial leaders to assess the value of each opportunity by validating market potential, developing business case assumptions, and the required timeline and resources needed.
  • Manages the overall execution of the program (identify best, conservative, and worst-case technical and timeline scenarios), which includes conducting risk and cost/benefit analyses and devising strategies to deal with unresolved risks. Acts as project manager to improve processes, procedures and standards based on PMO and Technology Services’ needs.
  • Partners with senior management across the organization to identify and prioritize technology goals and objectives; develop and maintain the program strategy and supporting business case, which includes program roadmaps and documentation.
  • Defines and initiates program and project objectives, works with other managers to manage cost, schedule, and performance of projects, and oversees multiple projects directed at achieving a strategic goal.
  • Implements project management tools such as agile framework to accelerate R&D technology projects.
  • Acts as a resource to the technology organization to drive corporate goals & KPI’s that are consistent with the annual budgeting process.  
  • Develops, implements, and monitors program budgets that are complex in nature; allocates shared resources among projects within the program; prepares reports detailing the status of the program budget and compliance to any requirements as specified by funding sources.
  • Monitors program milestones to maintain continuous alignment of program scope with strategic business objectives; ensures projects within the program are completed within established time and budget schedules; recommends modifications to project managers to enhance the effectiveness toward the business result or strategic intent.
Functions as a liaison with senior management, vendors, and technology leaders to communicate program strategy, direction, and changes; presents information on program performance in senior executive meetings.

Additional Duties:
  • Other duties as assigned by the CTO’s office.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Required:
  • Bachelors Degree in science, engineering, or business from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in technology management, preferably in life sciences, synthetic biology and/or Food & Beverage industries.
  • Possess extensive knowledge and expertise in program/project management, portfolio management, and/or systems development methodology.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues.
  • High level critical thinking and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Strong formal presentation abilities.
  • Ability to manage and influence relationships and engage team members with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent time-management and organization skills.
