Senior Director, Place-Based Strategies

The Senior Director is responsible for collaborating with NCRC members and stakeholders to identify CRA-eligible local investment opportunities and leveraging NCRC-facilitated community benefit agreements for partnership opportunities with local anchor institutions Collaborating with the Organizing and Advocacy team, the Senior Director will ensure local communities can advocate for financial resources to support community reinvestment. The Senior Director is responsible for providing consultation to and creating linkages between public or private entities and the community for sustainable and equitable investments that support addressing economic disparities in LMI communities and communities of color. Prior experience in community and/or economic development or a related field is required. The Senior Director must be a self-starter with strong communication, writing, project management, and strategic planning skills. The candidate must also demonstrate a strong ability to work within cross-functional teams and commit to growing the department's capacity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Senior Director is primarily responsible for the following:
1. Partner with local members and stakeholders to effectively identify and implement wealth-building strategies supported by qualitative and quantitative data to promote the economic resilience and mobility of low—and moderate-income people and communities of color.
2. Lead the development and implementation of economic mobility and community engagement plans.
3. In collaboration with the division chief, provide oversight of NCRC’s process for developing, implementing, and monitoring community benefit agreements.
4. Build and deepen relationships with diverse stakeholders, including outreach to community development practitioners at financial institutions, nonprofits, foundations, businesses, and government agencies that serve the needs of low-to-moderate-income communities and communities of color to identify community development investment opportunities.
5. Partner with NCRC’s National Training Academy to develop and coordinate training for members, public and private institutions, and other stakeholders to share insights on opportunities to invest in wealth-building opportunities for low-to-moderate-income communities and communities of color.
6. Develop reports that enable the board and executive leadership to track impact.
7. Supervise, set performance standards, manage workflow, evaluate performance, provide coaching/mentoring, and recommend personnel actions within delegated authorities. Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.
8. Develop staff members to ensure professional growth. Expanding the capabilities of the team to ensure a more resilient organization.
9. Represent NCRC at conferences, summits, and other events.
10. Other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES:

Technical Skills- Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Program Management- Displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, and makes timely decisions to manage programs effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Extensive (minimum of eight years) experience in community and economic development or a related field; Supervisory experience required.2. Experience leading a housing, economic development, or community development department or agency. Highly developed organizing, listening, and analytical skills
3. Ability to set and meet deadlines
4. Excellent communication and public speaking skills
5. Proficient computer skills
6. Demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice.
7. Willingness to travel regularly
8. Creative energy and ability to work well in a dynamic and diverse team.
9. A Master’s Degree is preferred, but work experience can be supplemented for education.

Salary range: $140,000 - $160,000, commensurate with experience
