Buyer

Hussey Copper is looking for an Associate Buyer specializing in Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO); you will be responsible for supporting the procurement and management of MRO supplies and services. This role involves assisting in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and ensuring cost-effective procurement practices to contribute to the organization's overall efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

MRO Purchasing

• Assist in identifying and evaluating potential MRO suppliers.
• Collaborate with vendors to negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions.
• Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and address day-to-day inquiries.
• Generate and process purchase orders for MRO goods and services.
• Ensure accuracy in order details, pricing, and delivery schedules.
• Track and monitor order status to ensure timely deliveries.
• Assist in monitoring MRO inventory levels and participate in inventory control activities.
• Collaborate with teams to understand usage patterns and contribute to forecasting efforts.
• Help maintain optimal stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
• Support the analysis of pricing trends and market conditions.
• Contribute to cost-saving initiatives without compromising on quality.
• Assist in achieving cost reduction targets set by the senior procurement team.
• Ensure that all procurement activities comply with company policies and regulations.
• Stay informed about relevant laws and industry standards impacting MRO procurement.
• Maintain accurate records of MRO procurement activities.
• Assist in preparing reports on purchasing trends, savings, and supplier performance.
• Work closely with the senior procurement team, as well as departments such as maintenance and operations.
• Assist in aligning MRO procurement activities with overall business goals.
• Conducts weekly inventory of Storeroom products located in the mill proper.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Previous experience in procurement or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with MRO products and suppliers is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of procurement processes and best practices.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Time management and multitasking abilities
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
