Job Description
Our client, a well-established and reputable manufacturer located in Johnstown, PA, is seeking a skilled Human Resources Manager to oversee all HR functions. This is a newly established role, offering the opportunity to shape and lead strategic HR initiatives while remaining hands-on with day-to-day operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance and counsel to executive leadership, managers, supervisors, and employees on employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Act as the primary liaison with governmental agencies and represent the company in unemployment hearings.
- Manage employee relations activities and proactively prevent unionization efforts.
- Stay abreast of all relevant government regulations, including FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and ACA.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and state and federal employment laws.
- Collaborate with the Director of Compliance on worker safety initiatives and workers' compensation matters.
- Oversee retention efforts, including conducting stay and exit interviews, and manage separation processes.
- Coordinate and oversee benefit-related audits and vendor relationships.
- Provide training and support to supervisors/managers on policies, performance management, and compliance.
- Offer guidance to managers on employee performance and behavioral issues, including disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Assist employees and retirees with benefit inquiries and problem resolution.
- Administer retirement plans, including 401k, defined benefit, and ESOP programs.
- Prepare and disseminate required federal and state disclosures and ERISA documents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of HR principles and practices.
- Proficiency in various HR functions, including training, recruitment, employee relations, and HRIS.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a knack for multitasking.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations and standards.
Previous Experience/Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5-10 years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on employee relations.
- Experience with HRIS systems is required.
- Preferred certifications include SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or a Master's Degree in HR or related field.
- Previous HR management experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
