About This Role

The individual in this role will report to the Chief of Staff, work closely with the Executive Coordinator and interface directly with the CEO and Leadership team. Broadly the Director of People and Culture is responsible for managing all aspects of HR from talent acquisition, day to day team matters and crafting and executing HR strategies that actively support NewRetirement’s expansion, enrich our company culture and foster high employee retention. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Leveraging your well-established industry network to attract, hire and retain top talent from various sectors including technology.
  • With a strong understanding of current compensation strategies, manage this company cost center effectively, ensuring compensation and benefits are competitive, equitable and sustainable.
  • Exhibit skill and diplomacy in handling a wide range of personnel issues, capable of resolving most concerns before they escalate to the leadership team, thereby protecting the time, focus, and energy of senior executives.
  • Create impactful employee development programs focused on training, leadership growth, and career progression, making remote learning effective and engaging.
  • Ensure compliance with all labor laws and regulations across different states in the US and internationally, adapting the employee handbook, policies and practices to meet local requirements.
  • Lead initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, creating a workplace where diversity is not just appreciated but celebrated.
  • Cultivate a vibrant company culture that promotes inclusion, diversity, communication and collaboration, transforming remote work into a dynamic and fulfilling experience.
  • Collaborate to determine and build appropriate HR metrics for tracking success; utilize metrics to sharpen our strategies and processes, ensuring we’re always aligned with our long-term goals.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and maintaining a positive workplace culture during periods of growth and transformation.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive onboarding programs to ensure new hires are successfully integrated into NewRetirement and its culture.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize retention.
  • Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews and knowledge transfer, to ensure a smooth transition for both the departing employee and the organization.
  • Empower our leaders to effectively manage and support their teams’ growth including performance, monitoring, mentoring, and supporting their evolution as leaders at NewRetirement.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee concerns, providing guidance and support to resolve issues and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Manage and evaluate employee performance, including overseeing performance improvement plans (PIPs) and providing feedback and support for development.
  • Oversee the management of employee benefits, ensuring that they are aligned with NewRetirement goals and employee needs.
Qualifications
  • A demonstrated history of cultivating culture at companies resulting in a meaningful impact on the business.
  • 7 - 10 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in the tech or SaaS industry, with at least 2 years in a senior role, working with remote teams.
  • Exceptional emotional capacity to manage the high stresses associated with senior HR roles, maintaining professionalism and effectiveness under pressure.
  • A proven track record of fostering engaging and non-painful Zoom interactions and building bonds in remote environments.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and connect with people at all levels within the organization.
  • In-depth understanding of HR best practices and regulatory compliance, adaptable to global teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and initiatives that enhance organizational capabilities.
  • A deep commitment to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace where every employee feels they belong.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
This position offers a competitive salary between $130,000 and $165,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications. Salary may vary by location based on factors including geography and associated cost of living. We are committed to paying our employees fairly and providing opportunities for professional growth and development.

This is a full-time ~40-hours per week position. While work hours are flexible based on company and team member needs, to ensure effective teamwork in our remote setting we've established collaborative working hours from 9:00am to 4:00pm Pacific Time on weekdays.
