Job description

Role: Social & Culture Strategist

Location: New York, NY

About the role:

This is a senior individual contributor role with a potential path toward people leadership. You'll own social and cultural strategy for multiple iconic ice cream brands. Not just tracking trends, but understanding why they matter, to whom, and what the brand should actually do about them.

You'll work closely with creative, content, and account teams, and partner with strategists across OLIVER's agency network to keep the thinking joined up and commercially grounded. Strong briefs, sharp decks, and a point of view that holds up in a client room are the core of what you'll bring.

 What you will be doing:
  • Develop social and cultural strategy that connects to broader brand, comms, and content objectives, building frameworks that go beyond platform tactics to shape how the brand shows up in culture
  • Spot emerging cultural moments, audience shifts, and platform behaviours across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, and beyond, and translate that insight into clear, actionable creative direction
  • Write briefs and build strategic decks that guide creative and content teams, articulating not just what to make but why it matters and how it connects to brand and business goals
  • Present strategy to clients and senior internal stakeholders, tying cultural relevance to commercial impact
  • Stay close to the creative work through production, making sure strategic intent translates into what actually gets made
  • Mentor junior strategists and help raise the strategic quality of the wider team, regardless of formal reporting lines
  • Partner with strategists at other IAT and roster agencies, contributing to a shared approach across the client ecosystem
  • Build a working knowledge of the ice cream category: audience behaviour, cultural context, seasonal rhythms, and competitive landscape
What you need to be great in this role:
  • A solid agency strategy background across social, brand, comms, or content strategy, with a track record of leading strategy on complex, multi-channel briefs
  • A genuine, nuanced understanding of culture: the difference between a moment and a movement, and between what's trending and what's actually shifting
  • Multi-platform fluency. You know how TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, and emerging platforms each work, and you know that culture isn't reducible to any one of them
  • Strong writing and presentation skills. You can build a deck that leaves clients both inspired and clear on what comes next
  • Confidence connecting strategic thinking to business outcomes, not just cultural relevance
  • Experience presenting strategy directly to clients or senior stakeholders and fielding questions with clarity and authority
  • The ability to write a brief that genuinely sharpens creative work
  • Experience with complex client or agency structures, whether multiple stakeholders, roster relationships, or IAT environments
  • Food and beverage category experience
  • Influencer and creator strategy experience
  • Strategic work across channels beyond Instagram and TikTok
  • At the time of this posting, the base salary for this position may range from $102,000.00 to $114,000.00. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. The range listed is just one component of OLIVER's total compensation package.
