JOB SUMMARY
The Food Production Technician will comply with Company policies, procedures, and safety standards during the manufacturing process to manufacture food products. The role will be responsible for live animal handling, slaughtering, packing, BRC collection, and sanitation. The Food Production Technician will also provide timely notice and seek the guidance of management to navigate through manufacturing issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for live room attendant and sanitation procedures.
• Slaughtering room procedures that include stunning, blood catching, skinning, transferring, operating a brain saw and chiller, gutting, pre-op, euthanizing, foot cutting, trimming, grading, racking, and heart and liver collection.
• Biological research collection (BRC) procedures that include stunning, drawing blood, harvesting raw materials, cervical dislocation, and inspection.
• Packing procedures that include operating a packing saw and cryovac, working the packing line, functioning as head of the line, bagging, casing, order packing, cooler/freezer, and completing fresh order paperwork.
• Understand and promote the quality system as a part of the Company's overall goal toward continual improvement through strict adherence to all company policies and procedures, as well as actively supporting and upholding the principles and values of the company.
• Comply with Pel-Freez, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration policies and procedures, food safety standards, general safety, animal welfare, and good manufacturing practices.
• Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Based on the essential duties listed above, this position is considered safety-sensitive and therefore all work must be performed following quality standards and established safety procedures.

EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE
• A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required.
• Previous experience working in food production, on a farm, or in a similar agricultural setting is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures and industry regulations and guidelines required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA), and Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). • Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• A focused individual capable of repeatedly exerting physical strength to safely lift and transport heavy materials.
• Demonstrated ability to safely and efficiently operate various types of hand and power tools, machinery, knives and saws, and other equipment to complete work tasks.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions, and learn competencies required of the position in a reasonable amount of time.
• The ability to maintain great attention to detail and meet established quality standards while managing tasks of completing priorities.
• The ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and adjust to changing situations.
• The ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• The ability to understand and comply with all company policies and procedures, and all applicable state and federal laws.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS
The Food Production Technician has no supervisory responsibilities. However, the role will be expected to frequently interact with co-workers, management, and the general public.
