The Accounts Payable Supervisor oversees the activities of the Accounts Payable processes and staff in support of the weekly cashflow and disbursements to vendors for North American operations.

Compensation: Exempt salary based on experience. Performance Bonus Eligible.

Travel: None

Location: Newbury, OH Corporate Headquarters. 100% Onsite; M-F; 8:00-5:00 with some flex on hours.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manages the daily work of the accounts payable associates; assigns and reviews tasks, provides professional guidance, and evaluates performance.
  2. Ensures that accounts payable transactions are properly recorded by applying accounting policies and procedures and accurately assigning chart of accounts to transactions.
  3. Confirms accurate and timely weekly cash disbursements; completes or validates accounts payable batches and performs or substantiates subsequent bank submissions.
  4. Supports vendor relationship management working with purchasing and supply chain teams.
  5. Determines use tax due on accounts payable accounts in compliance with state and local tax laws.
  6. Identifies, recommends, and manages opportunities to improve processes through automation while providing effective overall procedures within the department.
  7. Conducts accurate and timely completion of IRS requirement for filing 1099 Forms with both vendors and IRS by compiling, analyzing, filing, and distributing the required annual documents.
  8. Reviews employee expense reports and operational expenditure requests for appropriate documentation, classification (expense versus capital) and adherence to budget.
  9. Assists Controller and Finance Manager by working on special assignments and accounting projects.
  10. Monthly reconciliations of all account payables G/L accounts.
  11. Follows and ensures proper internal controls regarding electronic payment requests.
  12. Protects company’s information and employee’s privacy by maintaining confidentiality.

What you will need to succeed:

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 5+ years related work experience.
  • Experience with JD Edwards a plus; ERP system experience required.
  • Experience with Automated AP systems required; implementation experience a plus.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate at multiple organizational levels.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of accounting software, word processing and advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
