Managerial/Supervisory Scope: Under general supervision, the Site Director operates the childcare center program in conformance with institutional regulations and state day care licensing provisions. The Site Director manages all employees of the child care center and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the center.
Basic Function: The Site Director is responsible for the day to day operations of the center including to planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and controlling services of the childcare program, exercising independent judgment and decision-making authority as delegated, including budget, policies, procedures, and staff supervision. Responsibilities include the overall management of the centers early childhood program and its operation, facilitating, planning and coordinating of the children's educational programs and activities.
Duties and Responsibilities Percent of Time
Program Operation and Management:
· Develops and implements program operating policies and activities as required; develop cost
estimates for future program needs.
· Formulates the annual program budget and expend funds according to institution and state
guidelines; responsible for ensuring that program operates within budgetary parameters
established; if circumstances cause budget to exceed or create potential for budget to be
exceeded, plan and implement cost reduction sops and arrange for increased funding from
sources.
· Ensures that the center and staff conform to federal, state, and local rules, regulations, health and
safety protocols and licensing requirements.
· Prepares and maintains administrative and business reports and records of the child care center;
record all fee payments and prepare billing late payments and follow-up actions when necessary;
review income and expense, statistical, and budget status reports to develop and maintain sound
financial status of program; analyze problems in these areas and make recommendations to
resolve them or take corrective action; prepare billing reports on child care center use.
· Develops grant or contract proposals; conduct fund-raising activities; implement contracts with
child care funding agencies.
· Confers with parents on a regular basis to discuss the development of their enrolled children.
Learning Environment · Oversees the program's assessment procedures by providing technical support to staff in planning, implementing, interpreting of assessment data and its use in modifying curriculum, teaching, support services and interventions, as needed. · Identifies, promotes, models, and uses materials, policies and practices that support positive and effective interactions among children, families and other professionals · Teaches staff, parents and community members about positive guidance approaches and the effective use of praise and encouragement. · Evaluates, applies and coaches others about theory and current research in adult-child interactions in children’s learning. · Teaches families and professionals about age appropriate communication skills in young children
Staffing Management
· Supervises, coordinates, and assists support of staff and supervisors in the implementation of
their assigned duties and responsibilities.
· Conducts periodic and equitable personnel reviews and evaluations, makes recommendations
regarding personnel action for assigned staff in accordance with agency policies and procedures;
and initiates personnel actions as appropriate.
· Consults with staff at respective site on a regular basis regarding employee performing and
training needs, provides career development counseling and assigns training opportunities
related to increasing job productivity and career advancement.
· Conducts training needs assessment of assigned staff and coordinates with other program
managers in the development and provision of in-service training to address employee
performance, skills, and knowledge.
· Maintains effective work-related communication among assigned support services and cluster
supervisor team. Assigns responsibilities to supervisors providing guidance, feedback and
support as needed to ensure the effective performance of duties.
· Conducts regular staff meetings.
Facilities Management
· Responsible for the overall monitoring and inspection of sanitation, cleanliness and safety of the
facility in order to protect the well-being of the children, the staff and visitors to the Child Care
Center.
· Monitors and reports all health and safety concerns to appropriate parties and ensures timely
resolution.
· Ensures daily, weekly, monthly, bi-annually, quarterly and annual inspections are completed on
playgrounds and within the center and center property to ensure health and safety measures meet
required standards.
· Provides spot inspections to ensure files are at the level of the Performance Standards.

· Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements: Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Child/ Family Development preferred, Extensive experience in the management of child development programming, Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, Creative Curriculum, Early Childhood teaching competencies and curricula, and family support practices, Cultural sensitivity, Extensive experience in supervision, staff training and development, leadership and advocacy, Knowledge of and experience with infant / toddler and preschool and School Age programming, Excellent interpersonal skills,
Work Schedule: The Site Director shall generally work forty (40) hours each week in accordance with the schedule personally arranged, and mutually agreed to with the Executive Director.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
