Safety Coordinator

A Toyota Supplier on the South Side of San Antonio is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join their team. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations and implementing effective safety programs. This is a DIRECT HIRE position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) and risk management, with experience in manufacturing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Devise and implement safety and health programs to prevent, correct, and/or control unsafe environmental conditions.
• Lead the review and evaluation, along with plant and manufacturing management, of new and existing operations, to identify and resolve any safety and environmental issues.
• Eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment, and/or machine operations.
• Apply professional industrial safety methods and techniques; safety-related elements of the physical sciences, environmental, ergonomics, psychology and physiology; and safety principles, standards, practices and analytical techniques.
• Conduct safety audits and advise management on safety issues observed.
• Complete employee safety-related paperwork and injury reports.
• Develop and apply methods for the safe application of installation of equipment, maintenance, etc.
• Administer protective equipment or safety devices.
• Redesign machines and plant equipment to eliminate occupational hazards; and/or review proposed occupational safety policies, guidelines and standards to determine their consistency with accepted OSHA principles and practices.
• Train employees on OSHA regulations such as forklifts, lock-out-tag-out, Blood Borne Pathogens, right-to-know (GHS & HAZCOM), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and laser safety.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• 4-year college degree in Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering, Safety, or Environmental Science, OR at least 3 to 5 years related experience in manufacturing environment.
• Basic Computer Skills and Knowledge (Microsoft Office Programs)
• Knowledge of policies and procedures associated with compliance with local, state and federal environmental and safety, safety audits, documentation and remedial follow-up and procedures as defined by Federal, State and Local authorities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and presentation skills.
• Sound judgment in decision-making and establishing priorities.
• Ability to travel to other company locations on an as-needed basis.
• Proactive and oriented to make improvements in systems and procedures as needed.
• Strong organizational skills, including managing and prioritizing multiple projects.
• Bilingualism in English and Spanish is a PLUS, but not required.

SHIFT:
M-F 6:30 am - 3:15 pm

PAY:

$48,000-$60,000 annually (depending on experience)
