HEALTH & SAFETY COORDINATOR

Health & Safety Coordinator

Location: Clayton, Iowa
Wage: Based on experience

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday- must be available for on-call nights and weekends

Position Summary

We are seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator in Clayton, IA. The Health and Safety Coordinator will work will all departments throughout the company to assist in implementation of company policies that ensure team members go home safely daily. This position reports to the Health and Safety Director and works with other team members to improve the health and safety culture of Pattison Sand Company, LLC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of MSHA a plus
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills required
  • Field Safety Experience
  • Ability to teach, mentor and lead
  • Ability to work in high production environment (50+ hours/week, including nights and weekends are expected) and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Ability to make independent judgments to manage and facilitate company programs/policies as they relate to the safety of our work
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Good analytical skills
  • Proficient spoken and written English
  • Able to wear a half mask respirator for up to 12 hours at a time
  • General computer knowledge
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and must have the ability to climb stairs and ladders in a mining / plant environment

Education, Certification & Licensing

  • Associates degree or High School Diploma
  • 2 yearsโ€™ field experience in Health and Safety or Supervisor experience in mining, construction, refining and/or rail industries is preferred
  • Part 48 MSHA required. Training available onsite
  • All Pattison employees must hold a valid Driverโ€™s License
