Adult Services Librarian OR Specialist - Full-time - Union Township Branch

Position: Adult Services Librarian OR Specialist

Union Township Branch

Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Responsibilities: Provides direct library service to people of all ages, especially adults. Responsible for supervision and operation of the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager. Interprets library policies and procedures, answers reference and reader's advisory questions, and maintains a working knowledge of the collection and library services. Leads the adult programming team and develops, plans and conducts a variety of innovative programs for adult and intergenerational audiences both in the library and as outreach to the community. Provides computer instruction to the public including downloadable eMaterials. Assists library users at the circulation desk using the library automated circulation system to circulate materials and other circulation related duties, and shelves materials as necessary.

Requirements: Comprehensive understanding across diverse subjects. Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities essential. Demonstrated leadership skills preferred. Proficiency in computer usage, including electronic devices, necessary. Flexibility to work during days, evenings, and weekends essential. Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check mandatory. Reliable transportation with valid insurance documentation required.

Service Specialist: Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Librarian: A four-year college degree and completion of a MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited program.

Rate: Service Specialist: Minimum $15.00 per hour

Pay Grade 4, non-exempt

Librarian: Minimum $19.50 per hour

Pay Grade 5, non-exempt
