Job Description

Job Title: Administrative Assistant

Job Summary:

This position is in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL). Working for NOAA PMEL offers the unique opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge research and innovation in understanding and preserving our planet's oceans and atmosphere.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Performing tasks related to budget, procurement, travel, and personnel actions
  • Utilizing business management systems for financial monitoring and accounting
  • Providing general support in accounting
  • Providing operational and program support, including timekeeping functions.
  • Providing support for PMEL's Director and/or Deputy Director as a subject matter expert
  • in public affairs, phone calls, calendar, visitors, and any other front desk support
  • Providing acquisition preparation support

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree
    • Additional training and experience may substitute for a degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Administrative knowledge and expertise for a variety of program and project administrative and oversight tasks that may include federal interagency agreements, NOAA cooperative institute agreements, grants, contracts government property, deemed exports, security policies, project proposals and plans, reports, budgets, data management, plans, R&D project databases and other administrative databases, procurements research and tracking, schedules, information gathering and logistics
  • Ability to remain up to date on latest government policies, processes, rules and regulations affecting accomplishment of tasks
  • Ability to work effectively with other staff members and offices such as NOAA, OAR headquarters and DOC legal counsel to accomplish tasks
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and resolve them to the satisfaction of stakeholders
  • Effective oral and written English communications

  • Project management knowledge and skills
  • Familiarity with federal government administrative and financial systems

Work Setting and Environment:

  • Monday - Friday, normal working hours
  • Work site is hybrid between remote and onsite
  • Onsite location is in Seattle, WA
