Human Resources Generalist

SunBelt Xpress is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist.
The Human Resources Generalist will assist in running the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department and work closely with the Human Resources Manager and other HR support staff. This position has responsibilities in the following areas: Employee relations, Onboarding, Benefit Administration, Training, Policy Implementation, Recruitment and Employment Law Compliance.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Maintain employee records in HRIS including but not limited to: including new hire information, pay rate changes, banking data, address updates, terminations, time data and labor wage reports.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answering frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Participates in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of new programs and policies.
- Create and modify documents using word processing, spreadsheet, database or other presentation software such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint and other programs.
- Conducts new hire orientation, New Hire Packets, Onboarding
- Planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebration and maintaining communications boards.
- Assist with benefit meetings and administration
- Complete employment verifications as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Broad HR Generalist skills, including benefits and employee relations, recruiting, local and state and federal law knowledge.
- Knowledge FMLA and ADA
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner at all times with all levels of customers, clients, vendors, visitors, and employees
- Detail-orientated, organized, with a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively with a team, with excellent project management
- Self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks
- Preferred experienced and knowledge in HRMS and other HR Systems; Paychex Flex experience a plus
- Proficiency in using Microsoft software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Outstanding listening and relationship management skills
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality by keeping sensitive information secure.
- Ability to work business hours including some evening and weekend support on an as-needed basis due to the nature of our business.
- Working knowledge of employment law
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Sound judgment with regards to when to escalate an issue to HR Manager
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Degree in Human Resources or Minimum 3 years of progressive HR Generalist.
