Job Summary

The Recruiter will research, develop, and implement effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent for the Tribe. This position is responsible for advertising vacant positions, recruiting qualified and talented candidates, maintaining all recruitment files, and on-boarding of all new hires. The Recruiter will collaborate with hiring managers and the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO) office for hiring needs.

Essential Functions
  • Facilitates the recruitment and hiring process to include posting and advertising, application processing, assists hiring managers with employment paperwork, and conducts the onboarding process for new employees
  • Notifies TERO Manager and posts Job
  • Presents qualified candidates to hiring managers; provides support with interviews, reference checks, and upon candidate selection will maintain communication throughout the pre-employment screening process
  • Collaborates with hiring managers and TERO Commission to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria Collaborates with hiring manager in the preparation and tailoring of specific interview questions and other hiring and selection materials
  • Reports the progress on recruitment data and analytics on a regular basis, communicates early warnings and provides regular feedback and advice about the performance of the recruitment process
  • Researches new recruitment channels and gives recommendations regarding advertising; stays informed of recruiting trends and best practices
  • Develops and maintains networks and relationships to find qualified candidates
  • Supports career fairs, recruiting sessions and other related events with advertising/postings and marketing materials
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Lifting Requirements
  • Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Qualifications

Education
  • Associates in Human Resources or related fields, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree

Experience
  • Two (2) years of professional recruitment experience

Preferred
  • Experience with sourcing tools, HR systems and candidate management systems
  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities

License/Certification
  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy
  • THRP Certificate preferred

Special Skills
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Working knowledge of interview techniques and applicant screening methods
  • Ability to manage a wide range of relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, or obtain within 90 days
  • Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others

This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
