ABOUT THE COMPANY
A-CAP is a rapidly growing organization that owns and operates multiple insurance companies and ancillary insurance businesses and has over $10 billion of total invested assets. This opening is with the holding company, which primarily performs asset management, actuarial, accounting, and other oversight functions on behalf of A-CAP’s insurers and third-party clients. This group also provides strategic and operational support to A-CAP’s portfolio companies/subsidiaries, proactively formulates new investment strategies, oversees external financing and acquisition activities, and provides modeling support for insurer liabilities and capital. On the insurance product side, A-CAP’s primary lines of business are traditional fixed and equity-indexed annuities, with additional business in whole life insurance, Medicare supplement, and hospital indemnity products. A-CAP insurers originate over $2 billion of new premium annually.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an efficient and coachable Compliance Assistant. This is an entry level position that will assist with basic compliance functions as instructed by the current members of the Legal department to help build and streamline processes and regulation implementation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Create a list of annual statements and financial filings due for the calendar year based on state link and standardized checklist recommendations made by the NAIC.
- Obtain active certificate of authority list for SSL and ACL.
- Review list against financial data repository as stated on the NAIC website.
- Produce master-list for calendar year of recorded financial filings reported as needed.
- Marketing reviews
- Form updates
- SERFF filings
- Regulation review/ follow up/ communication
- Assist with complaints
- Other projects as assigned
- Experience - 1-3 years of similar or related experience in administration, compliance, or health insurance.
- Interpersonal Skills – Personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
- Other Skills (helpful but not required) - Thorough knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process. Talks to others to convey information effectively. Thorough knowledge of insurance and/or financial practices, policies, procedures, operations, products, services, and regulations.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., 40 hours weekly, or as otherwise arranged with the manager of the department.
