Join the team at JCC Greater Boston as a Human Resources Manager! In this temporary key role, you will be responsible for providing critical support to our organization's human resources operations and initiatives. As a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the leadership team, you will implement and manage HR policies and programs, provide guidance and support to managers and employees, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

The Human Resources Manager will play a critical role in recruitment and talent management, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits administration, and employee engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR with a focus on creating a positive work environment and fostering a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and professional growth.

The starting salary range for this position is $27.46 - $33.35 per hour. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity. This is a temporary part-time position (20-30 hours per week) expected to last 4 - 8 weeks, with the potential to grow into a permanent role.

Responsibilities

Drives and executes best practices in HR Management and supports managers in leveraging these practices to improve outcomes

  • Create and update HR practice systems to improve service delivery and effectiveness
  • Pays attention to areas where improvement is needed and works to drive change and shift practices to achieve desired outcomes
  • With the Director, provides effective guidance and support to managers to effectively address employee performance and conduct concerns, attendance issues, leave of absence, ADA requests, WC, and other employment needs.
  • Ensures broad access to policies, practice protocols, and resource materials
  • Develops professional and useful resource materials that enhance employee knowledge and ability to implement and navigate protocols and practices to achieve desired best practice standards

Oversees leave management and partners with managers, HR coordinator, employees, and other key staff to ensure practices are compliant with all complex and overlapping regulations and policies

  • Ensure employees are well educated on leave benefits, including Worker Comp practices, State Leave benefits, and PTO policies and practices.
  • Ensures leaves administration is timely and consistent
  • Ensures managers and leaders are well educated on leave management standards of practice and are able to navigate leave protocols to reduce organizational risk effectively
  • Leverages HR Coordinator support to ensure effective records retention

Collaborates to address talent needs and achieve desired hiring outcomes effectively

  • Collaborate with Director, Talent Acquisition Manager, and leaders/management partners to address talent needs through proven assessment and development techniques
  • With the Director, gain insights on the functional depth of talent and participate in organizational team development; partner for effective job development
  • Provides coaching/counseling to management partners at all levels to enable high-performing teams, including driving successful hiring and onboarding practices
  • Take the initiative to problem-solve and troubleshoot issues
  • Deal discreetly with highly sensitive, confidential written, electronic, and oral communications concerning staff, departments, and finances.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field and progressive experience in Human Resources with 5 years’ solid generalist foundation. Human Resources certification and demonstrated working knowledge of/success in a non-profit environment a plus. Must have strong computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.

  • Ability to manage situations effectively and diplomatically; ability to adapt to evolving needs and circumstances.
  • Must display superb interpersonal and active listening skills; superb communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Outstanding project management skills from design to implementation, managing deadlines with great attention to detail and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative.
  • Works well independently and with others, building/sustaining collaborative working relationships.

Physical Requirements:  Able to work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to lift and carry objects weighing 30-40 pounds (boxes of supplies, children’s backpacks, etc. Able to sit and kneel; getting down at eye level with children regularly.  This position is a hybrid position; some administrative duties may be effectively executed remotely, while others require an in-office presence.
