Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, in collaboration with the Manager of Engineering and VP of Content, the Live Event Manager will oversee the technical aspects of live pre, in-game, and postgame coverage for Red Sox Baseball, Boston Bruins Hockey, Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Pirates, and numerous other live events.

The Live Event Manager must be an excellent and outgoing communicator. This position is responsible for working collaboratively across departments and supporting all production workflows, such as control rooms, studios, audio, editing, and master control. The position requires knowledge of control room and studio operations, including audio and video signal flow within the production and remote production environments.

The working hours will primarily be nights, weekends, and holidays (e.g., Tuesday-Saturday). The candidate will communicate technical information or challenges up, down, and across the organization as needed. This position requires a keen eye to identify new daily procedures/ SOPs for workflow and contribute to the planning and implementation of technical projects as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comfortable working in a high-paced environment that requires creativity, ingenuity, communication, and calm leadership skills.
  • Oversee linear and streaming production workflow and direct people in the operations department when assigned.
  • Manage the nightly operational workflow as manager on duty - Day, evening, and/or weekends.
  • Maintain a high level of collaboration with supervisors, content managers, operations managers, engineering team, and production managers to identify gaps in workflow and ensure high performance in support of those departments.
  • Convey and consolidate any discrepancies in the daily operation of the production workflow, ensuring the quality and accuracy of that information. Communication might be written, verbal, or both, including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of PCRs / ACR areas and overall knowledge of signal flow throughout all areas of operations; assist Operation/Production and content managers in developing and recommending best practice improvements.
  • Collaborate with the production/ operation and content managers on staff training, development, and scheduling for maximum efficiency.
  • Schedule/coordinate nightly production meetings with all departments to support live event execution
  • Prepare next-day logistics recommendations for daytime stakeholders to create operational efficiencies.
  • Work with the operations, engineering, content, and production manager teams to identify individual operator developmental and training needs; Make recommendations for training in collaboration with the managers.
  • Assure compliance with existing company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Successfully complete other related projects and tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 6 or more years of progressively complex related experience and/or 4 or more years of managerial or supervisory level experience
  • Ability to excel in a highly technical environment and learn new technologies quickly
  • Excellent organizational skills and must be extremely detail-oriented
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Equally important to communicate well via e-mail, cell and /or in person
  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision, but also able to work effectively within a team environment and/or cross departmentally
  • Ability to successfully work within a fast paced environment with a customer-focused mindset
  • Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays

  • Proficient in Office 365 suite. Xytech, Airtable or Monday.com, and Itracker a plus
