What You Will Do: The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing phlebotomy procedures, blood processing, obtaining lab results from reference laboratories, assisting with andrology related duties, maintenance of computer-generated logs and reports related to patient testing and billing, and other lab related duties. This staff position works in conjunction with the billing office to coordinate patient charges and collect payment at the time of services. The clinical laboratory assistant participates in quality assurance and improvement activities on an ongoing basis.

  • Provide phlebotomy services to clinical laboratory patients according to established procedures and protocols including proper patient identification, patient preparation, specimen collection, and labeling.
  • Confirm all patient demographic information with patient per established protocols; requests and facilitate correction of all inaccuracies.
  • Verify patient insurance information and ensure use of contracted reference laboratory when appropriate per established procedures. Routes billing information correctly as “bill insurance,” “bill patient,” “bill client.”
  • Process samples per established protocols for testing including required transportation and storage conditions, completion of requisition forms, and transmission of electronic data per protocol.
  • Generate correct billing, charges, and payment information as required for laboratory services.
  • Accurately and completely perform billing audits.
  • Maintain organized and sanitary work environment and follow OSHA regulated bloodborne pathogen handling and disposal procedures.
  • Maintain adequate phlebotomy supplies through inventory and place orders as needed.
  • Follow established procedure for returned shipping kits.
  • Review and maintain the RSO to reflect current and pending orders.
  • Works with genetic laboratories to ensure proper billing and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Understand and assess potential domestic violence and child abuse concerns and report to Medical Director or Practice Administrator.
  • Maintain HIPAA and Confidentiality for all patient and clinic information, HIV confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Phlebotomy Certification required.
  • 1+ year phlebotomy experience in a clinic or hospital preferred.
  • Minimum of two hundred (200) successful blood draws required.

The employee is frequently required to sit; will occasionally stand and/or walk; use hands and fingers to grasp, pick, pinch, type; and reach with hands and arms. Employees should have the visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, and operation of standard office machines and equipment.

CCRM’s Compensation: The salary range represents the national average compensation for this position. The base salary offered will vary based on location, experience, skills, and knowledge. The pay range does not reflect the total compensation package. Our rewards may include an annual bonus, flexible work arrangements, and many other region-specific benefits.
