ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Avoya Travel is hiring a full-time Systems Administrator position.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Systems Administrator to join our team in the travel industry. The Systems Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our IT infrastructure, enabling our organization to deliver exceptional travel experiences to our customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems administration, network management, and IT support. Reporting to the VP of IT, this role works on a team, but also independently- must be comfortable using sound judgement and making decisions independently as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and hardware components.
  • Install, configure, and maintain server systems, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Monitor system performance and security, identify and resolve issues proactively and independently.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify IT needs and provide technical solutions.
  • Provide preventative maintenance of all IT infrastructure and systems through tasks including but not limited to; patching, updating, provisioning, decommissioning, and installation or replacement of hardware and networking systems.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in line with company policies.
  • May on occasion need to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and provide timely technical support to end-users.
  • Document IT procedures, configurations, and system changes per department guidelines.
  • Assist with other tasks and/or special projects as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, security, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently and as part of a team.
  • Employees who work from home (part-time, full-time, or on occasion)must be able to meet performance standards and department requirements in a productive and professional environment.
    1. This includes the ability to work with little or no distraction(s), consistent internet connectivity, regular and ongoing communication with supervisors(s), reliable childcare and/or eldercare (if applicable), and depending on the role, the ability to discuss and protect all confidential information (company or people related).
  • Presents a professional and tidy appearance (virtually or in person) while conducting educational sessions, calls, and/or meetings (when cameras are on).

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION

  • A combination of education and experience equaling either a minimum of 5 years recent IT experience or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field plus a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience.
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certifications are a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This is primarily a stationary position with prolonged periods of sitting and working from a computer (ability to type, read, review, write, etc.) for a full workday.
  • Ability to work a varied work schedule as needed including early mornings, evenings, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
  • Professional appearance when attending events or facilitating sessions virtually or in-person.
  • May need to occasionally travel to home office or other locations for events as needed.
  • Ability to speak English clearly, in a friendly manner, and at an appropriate tone and volume over the company’s provided phone system, Microsoft Teams, or in person.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with assistance.

  • Ability to grammatically compose emails in a clear and friendly manner.
