Job Overview:
A key position with the Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. Library and the Edgar Cayce Foundation (ECF), the Library and ECF Intern is under the supervision of the Library Manager. The A.R.E. Library stands as a living memorial to the life and work of Edgar Cayce. The Library houses one of the largest collections in the world specializing in the fields of metaphysics, parapsychology, comparative religious studies, holistic health and ancient civilizations. The Intern is part of the Library and ECF team that strives to provide research opportunities, education, cultural and social enrichment for the residents of the city, members, visitors and A.R.E. Staff, in one of the country’s largest metaphysical libraries.
Requirements:Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Rotate between the Library and ECF as directed.
- Develop a working knowledge about the organization, library and ECF services and programs.
- Learns and becomes proficient with internal software systems.
- Takes care of library and ECF materials and artifacts.
- Accepts designated project(s) and present final project before end of internship.
- Provides suggestions to management for improving services and internal processes.
- Other related duties, activities and responsibilities as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School education or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years’ experience in customer service required, medical office experience preferred.
- Minimum two years’ experience working with personal computer systems (Windows XP, Firefox Mozilla & Microsoft Office) required.
- Massage/Bodywork experience preferred.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. vision and mission.
- At least 1 year experience internship, volunteering or other related area of work.
- Has above average website and social media expertise.
- Can work in the Microsoft 365 Suite of applications.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to be creative and think critically.
- Available to work some weekends as needed.
- College degree, graduate level of education preferred, in a related field of study.
Work Hours/Availability:
- Tuesday – Friday and weekend availability.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to move between buildings on uneven ground and to use staircases in historical buildings without elevators is required.
- Ability to life and carry 25 lbs. of boxes of materials/supplies and transport over uneven ground on a regular basis is required.
