Job Title: Accounts Payable Clerk

Department: Accounting

Salary: $18.00 - $20.00/hr

Hours: Tue, Thurs & Friday (25-32 hrs a week)

Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for the processing, verification, and reconciliation of invoices. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Invoice Processing

Review and verify invoices and check requests.
Sort, code, and match invoices to purchase orders.
Set invoices up for payment and enter them into the accounting system.

Payment Management:

Prepare and perform transaction processing for electronic transfers and payments.
Prepare and process checks for mailing.
Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.

Vendor Communication:

Maintain vendor files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
Communicate with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies and clarify any questionable invoice items, prices, or receiving signatures.

Reconciliation Tasks:

Reconcile accounts payable transactions.
Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
Reconcile monthly statements and related transactions.

Reporting and Compliance:

Assist with month-end closing by providing relevant reports.
Maintain accurate historical records by filing documents.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements

Qualifications:

Proven working experience as an Accounts Payable Clerk.
Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, and experience with accounting software.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
