Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Team Leadership: You will have a key role in managing the payroll operations. Leading payroll professionals, offering guidance and support to ensure smooth execution of payroll tasks under the direction of the Payroll Manager and Corporate Controller.
  • Operational Excellence: Your focus is on maintaining operational excellence within the department. This involves delivering high-quality service in accordance with policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Multi-Union Fringe Reporting: You're responsible for accurately reporting multi-union building trade fringes on time, ensuring balancing against the general ledger. Reconciliation of any differences is crucial.
  • Union Labor Rates and Agreements: Maintain records of union labor rates and union agreements in an organized manner. Manage all special pay and travel package agreements in place for union personnel.
  • Personnel Payroll Records: Handle setup and maintenance of all union personnel payroll records.
  • Payroll Processing: Assist in processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll, including any necessary daily adjustments.
  • Union Audits and Analysis: Complete all requested union audits and engage in analysis functions related to payroll operations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred but not required: Accounting related degree or related certification.
  • At least one year in a supervisor/manager role is required. This includes direct responsibility for all staff employment decisions, performance evaluations, and performance improvement meetings.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of in-house payroll processing experience for at least 300 hourly employees.
  • Experience with union payrolls is required with multi-union building trades experience
  • Experience related to construction related industry preferred.
  • Experience with reporting payroll taxes and withholding in multiple states preferred.
  • Must be proficient in using email, database, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing applications: specifically Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have strong Microsoft Excel knowledge.
  • Must be willing to learn new software applications.
  • Must be very detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical and trouble solving skills.
  • Time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Good organizing and planning skills.
  • Works without direct supervision with different personalities and under pressure.
  • Be creative, flexible, adaptable, and possess excellent teamwork skills.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Other requirements: Must be able to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
